SENNA Cosmetics hasn’t really been on my radar, until now. Created in 1976 by Emmy-nominated makeup artist and brow guru, Eugenia Weston, SENNA is a favorite among celebrities for their luxurious mineral foundation and high pigment eye colors.
When the Emerald Isle look from the SENNA Summer Sunglow 2013 Collection arrived on my doorstep, I was instantly impressed. Eugenia Weston describes this collection as “warm and rich bronzed skin and emerald eyes with fiery lips that burst with energy and adventure.” I concur!
The collection includes:
Emerald Eye Color ($18) – we all know Emerald is the Pantone color of the year and SENNA’s Emerald is absolutely gorgeous! This isn’t what the traditional emerald–it is not as deep and has a more teal undertone to it. It is a rich, jewel-tone shade with a light reflective finish that is color dense but still makes eyes glow. The texture is perfect; soft and smooth but not too powdery.
Brilliant Bronze Baked Mineral Bronzer & Highlighter in Sunset ($42) – I admit I was scared when I saw this bronzer in the pan–it looked much too shimmery and I envisioned every pore on face turning into a moon crater. I was so wrong; I should have known better, a line created by a makeup artist would never do that to a woman. This mineral bronzer has a feather light, silky feel that brings a luminosity to the face with cultivated fresh water pearls.
Made in Italy with 55% water, amino acids and proteins, Sunset hydrates the skin and applies like a dream. I use the darker side as a bronzer and the lighter side over my blush to get a nice glow. One light layer works well on my pale complexion, for darker skin tones, just apply a little more–it is so light and hydrating you don’t have to worry about it looking cakey or thick.

Ultra Last Eyeliner in Ultra Black ($20) – waterproof, creamy and long lasting, this eyeliner doesn’t skip or tug. The thin pencil has a rubber section to help you grip for a more precise application.
Lip Lacquer Ultra Shine Lipgloss in Bonfire ($20) – Bonfire, a blood orange with tons of shine was chosen for this look. You beauties know I love a coral lip and this is one is a perfect shade to brighten your summer look. These lip glosses are smooth and apply beautifully–not too thick and not too thin. They are moist and good for your lips with hydrating shea butter, grape seed oil, jojoba oil, mange seed butter and vitamins.
To re-create the SENNA Emerald Isle look, I used the entire collection. On the eyes, Emerald eye color, the bronzer side from Sunset Baked Mineral Bronzer in the crease, black Ultra Last eyeliner and Maybelline Volum Express Falsies Big Eyes Mascara, reviewed here.
I also used IT Cosmetics CC Cream, reviewed here for my foundation and Le Metier de Beaute Coral Nymph Creme Fresh Blush with the highlighter side from the Sunset Mineral Bronzer on top.
Bottom Line: the quality SENNA products combined with the high performance and gorgeous shades really made me sit up and take notice. Every item in this collection is a winner which I can’t always say. Truly loving this look!
Bronzelite, the second part of the Summer Sunglow Collection will be up next week–it’s a monochromatic palette of sparkling bronze shades.
