I have long been a fan of the Vincent Longo brand. My friend Marcia from Beauty Info Zone introduced me to the brand during a shopping trip to Space.NK in Newport Beach, California. I instantly fell in love with the Pearl X Eyeshadows (review here) so I was delighted for the opportunity to try more from the line.
The Vincent Longo Trio Eyeshadow in Primitive makes creating an eye look as easy as counting to 3! The three shades are embossed with the numbers for the order of application. For a pretty daytime look use #1 all over, #2 in the crease and #3 to line and define. To vamp it up and create a smoky eye, apply #1 as an all-over base, #2 on the lid, #3 in the crease and along the lower lash line. Either way, this trio is perfect for a sophisticated brown eye. The addition of some very fine gold flecks in shade #3 makes the trio more interesting and gives it some dimension.
Primitive shade #1 is a shimmery ivory I used on the brow bone, shade #2 is a beautiful satin finish bronze with red undertones and #3 is a deep matte brown with fine gold flecks. The combination works beautifully together, especially on blue or green eyes. I really like that you get three finishes in one compact; it makes the trio more useful. Having the numbers listed on the shades take the guesswork out for makeup newbies or for those who need a quick look. All the colors blend nicely, do not crease and last all day with a primer. It could just be me, but I had some trouble blending shade #3 into the crease–it was going on a bit patchy for me. I always wear eyeshadow primer so maybe I did a bad job of blending my Urban Decay Primer Potion–it wouldn’t be the first time. Overall I don’t feel that affected the entire look.
Packaging is a sleek black compact with a full size mirror that looks expensive. Truthfully, I kind of like the old packaging; even though it wasn’t as rich looking, you could see the colors through the clear plastic top.
Vincent Longo Trio Eyeshadow Pearl to Matte is available in four colorways and retails for $30. Purchase at vincentlongo.com and dermstore.com
In this look I am also wearing Vincent Longo Thinstick Lipstick in Baby and VL mascara (to be reviewed in another post).
Bottom Line: great quality, color coordinated and SO easy to use!
