To celebrate 20 years of sophistication, Vera Wang has just launched a new fragrance, Vera Wang Anniversary. “Commemorating love, happiness and modern femininity, Vera Wang Anniversary is a sensuous woody floral with hints of red apple leaves, mandarin oil, gardenia, and orange flowers for the modern elegant woman.” The notes are: Top: Sicilian bergamot, red apple leaves, mandarin oil, cool dew drops. Middle: White gardenia, rose absolute, orange flowers. Base: Silky musks, orris, amber crystals, cedarwood.
This is a lovely floral scent with gardenia being the stand-out note in the mix. I love the smell of Gardenia–it’s a beautiful flower and holds beautiful memories for me. When I was in my early twenties, I dated an “older” man in his mid-30′s. He once took me to a party at one of his rich friends homes–’ya know marble staircase, maids, piano by the pool. I was wearing one of my favorite dresses– a dress I had purchased from the designer herself when I worked at Nordstrom;-it had a peach background with white gardenias. Now that I look back, I was hot. As he was driving us to the party, he made a stop at the florist and bought me a single white gardenia for my hair. I smelled that delicious scent all night long and felt like a princess. Truly, it was one of those unforgettable times in my life when I felt really, genuinely pretty.
The fusion of gardenia, bergmont, and orange flower make for a soft and womanly scent. I say womanly because Vera Wang Anniversary is very different from Vera Wang Princess; there is no overt sweetness in Anniversary, it’s more grown-up and refined than Princess–if Princess is a teen, than Anniversary is Princess’s mother. Although the base notes are musk, amber and cedarwood, I cannot detect them–but that’s okay with me, I like floral feminine scents. I found this fragrance to last longer on me than some which I’m delighted about.
The bottle is a solid but pretty cut glass with lavendar “petals” all around. If you like dark, musky or oriental scents you’ll want to skip Vera Wang Anniversary. However, if you prefer light florals with substance, that are not cloying then go get Vera Wang Anniverary now!
Vera Wang Anniversary Eau de Parfum is available in : 1.7fl oz/50mL $72, 3.4fl oz/100mL $92 and also available in a shimmer rollerball .34 fl oz/10mL $25

I love fragrance…many of them and I don’t feel dressed until I’ve picked out that
special one for the day.
A very vivid memory I have involves an old fragrance called “Jungle Gardenia”. When I was still in high school, I owned this fragrance and worked part-time in a Bar-B-Que Restaurant. Every evening when I left work, I, as well as every one else, noticed that I smelled like a bar-b-qued gardenia!!!!! It was awful!!!!! That stuck with me for years!!! Now I love the smell of gardenias…I grow them and in the spring and summer, I cut them and fill bowls with them in my home…such a beautiful fragrance. Thank you for such a lovely giveaway.
My memory of fragrance also involves gardenia. I remember feeling very feminine when I wore Marc Jacobs, which has gardenia as its top note. Then half the women in my office got it, and it was no longer special. I’ve moved on to other scents, but they all seem to have white flowers in common. Think about it, all the most intensely fragrant flowers are white: jasmine, tuberose, gardenia, freesia.
Vera Wang Anniversary sounds like it’s for grown up women, and I can’t wait to try it.
the scent of honeysuckle reminds me of my best friend. everytime i smell it it takes me back to high school and sleeping over at her house! xo
Any scent that my mother wore when I was a kid immediately takes me back. I could never wear them, even if I love them, because I feel like a child.

I usually wear Lancome’s Miracle perfume, and though I loved it before I met my husband, the fact that he loves it on me is very special. I always wear it for our nights out, and he always compliments me on it!
I remember sitting next to one of the “tough” girls in High School Chemistry lab. She was also considered one of the coolest girls around and she ALWAYS had a boyfriend. I loved the smell of her fragrance, which seemed very grown-up, rebellious, and chic all at the same time (plus, it was mixed with the smell of the cigarettes she smoked in the HS bathroom!). I asked her what it was, and she said, “Youth Dew” by Estee Lauder. It was the first perfume I bought for my geeky, non-smoking, very single self.

I have lovely gardenia memories from when I was a child. There was a mature gardenia bush outside my window and I would fall asleep to that fragrance during the summer nights. Lovely memories.

I vividly remember the smell of Clinique Happy as I entered my first day of middle school. That scent will forever be embossed in my mind as a scent of hormones and humiliation. Thankfully, other scents have provided happier memories like Tom Ford’s Black Orchid and my wedding night…

The scent of Paris by YSL reminds me so much of high school. For some reason it just takes me back – I need to actually buy a new bottle. I love that scent. Amy
My favorite fragrance memory is of a clinique fragrance my (deceased) grandma always wore… Every time I smell it I remember her and feel such love and joy.
I purchased YSL Paris Voile De Rose when I visited there. Now every time I ware it I think of Paris.

i don’t really have a particular fragrance memory. I think just smelling cut grass sometimes makes me think of a high school friend and visiting her at her dad’s house. She has a baby now. it’s crazy!

I remember “Gee, You Smell Terrific” cologne! I know they also made the ever so popular “Gee, Your Hair Smells Terrific” shampoo in the 70′s but I have a vivid memory
of myself and my best friend Rachel running across this fragrance & buying it & wearing it, LOTS of it!! We may have been offensive to others but we thought we were
the chicest eighth graders around!
OMG, I remember Gee Your Hair Smells Terrific shampoo too! A friend found some for me and bought me a bottle but has yet to send it to me. I also loved the original Herbal Essence that was green and smelled like grass, I used that from 8th grade through high school!

One fragrance that comes to mind is Samsara. My best friend in college, Paige, & I became addicted to the stuff! For Christmas & birthdays we’d buy each other this fragrance. I don’t wear it anymore, but whenever I smell it I think back on my single days.

One memory I have is with ck 1. It was my first perfume spray and I loved the scent so I went a bit overboard at a school dance to the point where the whole evening people may have steered clear of me lol. Never again. But it was funny and my friends and I laugh about it now
