Corals!!!

I think Sebastian said it best “everything’s better down where it’s wetter, under the sea.” I’m happiest near water; whether it be the ocean, a lake or river, but I do have a special affection for the ocean and snorkeling. What a fascinating world there is under there; the colors and textures, the strange creatures--spectacular!  When snorkeling I feel as I am an observer of an strange and exotic land,  looking through a kaleidoscope.  This, I believe is where my obsession with the colors of coral and  turquoise began. It has now translated into my everyday life through makeup. I wanted to share with you my favorite shades of coral. Coral is hot, hot, hot this spring and summer and there is a coral for every skintone so go ahead and give it a try--you may discover a whole new world! Hey isn’t that another song?

Shades of coral range from orange to pink to a combination of the two. The following are my favorite coral makeup products.

Blush

  • Chanel In Love
  • Bobbi Brown Calypso Coral
  • Chanel Reflex (discontinued)
  • Benefit Coralista

L to R: Benefit Coralista, Chanel Reflex, Bobbi Brown Calypso Coral, Chanel In Love

Lipstick

  • Chanel Charisma
  • Estee Lauder Crystal Coral
  • Estee Lauder Princess Grace LE (no longer avail)
  • L’oreal Compelling Coral
  • MAC Viva Cyndi

L to R: Mac Viva Cyndi, L'oreal Compelling Coral, Estee Lauder Princess Grace, Estee Lauder Crystal Coral, Chanel Charisma

You can see how corals differ drastically. MAC Viva Cyndi is a reddish coral, EL Crystal Coral is very peachy and Chanel Charisma is a pinky coral. My love for corals goes way back and a few years ago I decided I really, really wanted the very limited edition Estee Lauder Princess Grace coral lipstick; not only was it LE, but in limited distribution and none of the stores in my area had it. To make matters worse, I didn’t decide I desperately wanted it until it way too late. I called every department store in the country and it was sold out. I called Estee Lauder and they couldn’t find it anywhere. I was going through a difficult time in my life; separated and going through a rough divorce, working two jobs, uncertain of my future. Four of my wonderful friends on MakeupAlley (MUA) went in together and paid a ridiculous price for Princess Grace on Ebay and sent it to me. It will always have a special place of honor on my vanity and every time I wear it, it reminds me how I am blessed to know these women.

Lipgloss

  • Revlon Coral Glow
  • MAC Lychee Luxe
  • Smashbox Couture

L to R: Smashbox Couture, MAC Lychee Luxe, REvlon Coral Glow

Will you try coral this spring and summer?

What a dangerous post for me to read — you already know I love coral, and we usually like the same colors. I wonder if I could still find Princess Grace Coral somehow… and I need Chanel In Love.
