This week our group of bodacious beauty bloggers are spilling the goods on their Top 10 antique gold beauty products. As I was looking through my stash for this post, I realized I don’t have as many golds as I thought I did and no antique golds to speak of, BUT I am an antique so I think that counts
Here goes, we’ll start with my obsession of choice, eye shadow. I have a lot of golds in palettes but not as many singles as I assumed.
From top: Lancôme, Laura Mercier, Inglot & Sunday Riley
Lancôme Bronze Amour Eye Brightening All-In-One 5 Shadow & Liner Palette – this is a gorgeous palette of gold, bronze and copper (you can see how well used it is). The gold shade in the palette is on the far right and the swatch below is on the far left. Smooth and creamy, this pale yellow gold shadow applies like a dream and packs some serious shimmer.
Laura Mercier Illuminating Eye Colour – was released last Holiday season as one of four in the Art Deco Muse Collection. Smooth as buttah, it glides on lids and has a lovely pearly sheen that is totally appropriate for the over 40 woman. It is packed with pigment, creamy in texture (almost bouncy) and sparkles softly. Swatch below is on the far right.
Inglot AMC Shine #25 is a brighter almost rose gold with a shimmery finish. Not quite as smooth as the others, but considerably less expensive. Swatch is below on the far left.
Sunday Riley Prismasilk Eye Color in Pot of Gold – available in 28 shades including matte, satin and iridescent finishes. Most beauty bloggers are gaga over Sunday Riley and I do really love the blushes I have, but this eyeshadow let me down. It is not very pigmented–the swatch you see below is about four coats. The texture is great, the finish wonderful but it’s just not pigmented enough. Maybe it was a bad color choice?
Left to right: Rimmel Precious Gold, Pixi Cafe Gold and Urban Decay Scorch
Rimmel Exaggerate Waterproof Eye Definer – Precious Gold a bright metallic gold that wakes up your eyes. This shade looks fab paired with black eyeliner using the newest two-liner technique for dramatic eyes. It’s quite soft and creamy for drugstore liner-available in 6 shades for just $5.99.
Pixi Endless Silky Eye Pen – Cafe Gold is a rich dirty gold that has just the right amount of sparkle. These fab eyeliners are waterproof, smudge-proof and super creamy. I have several and Cafe Gold is a favorite for it’s richness.
Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Pencil – Scorch is what I consider to be a true antique gold….or bronze. If gold tarnishes because it’s an antique does it become bronze? If a tree falls in the woods with no one around does it make a noise? Is Scorch one of the awesome-est eyeliners ever created? YES! This is THE perfect gold–not too bright, not too dark, juuust right to light up your eyes!
Gold Lips–yes, I said lips.
Top: Sam Fine Canary Diamond, Bottom: SENNA lipstick in Midas
Sam Fine Fashion Flare Canary Diamond Lipgloss – this gorgeous gloss add shimmer and dimension when layered over any lipstick. The sparkle is very fine and not gritty and glides on.
SENNA Cream Lipstick in Midas – I adore this gold metallic lipstick both for it’s color and for the creamy texture. It has Hyaluronic Acid filling spheres, Vitamin E, Shea Butter and Jojoba Oil hydrate to condition and protect and feels amazing on the lips. Wear this over any lipstick for a pretty gold highlight or just in the center of the bottom lip to add fullness. Midas is part of the Summer 2013 Collection, read my review of the other half of the collection here. SENNA does such a great job with all their cosmetics, I’m quickly developing a crush on the brand–top quality, gorgeous colors and lovely textures.
Okay, okay so that’s only 9 not 10, it’s called “creative license” m’kay?
Let’s see what the other golden goddesses chose for their gold members…’er I mean products!
