Good morning beauties! Our Beauty Spotlight Team series on ‘What’s In My Makeup Bag’ was so successful that the team has decided to let you delve deeper into our inner sanctum. I’m starting off this week by giving you a peek at how I keep my skin soft and smooth and my tresses shiny with ‘What’s In My Shower.’ Let’s get to it!
Left to Right:
Barefoot Venus Coconut Bath Soak with Cocoa Butter ($12.99) – I love to take nice, hot, looooong baths to relax in the cooler months–good thing that’s about 9 months in my area of the country. This bath soak is packaged in a small tin with a old fashioned label. All of Barefoot Venus products are packaged with a vintage feel which is just one more thing to love about the line. Inside the tin are teeny tiny balls of coconut scented cocoa butter joy. Pour a handful under running water and they dissolve into the tub and leave your skin feeling velvety smooth and sweetly scented. What I like most is that the coconut scent is not synthetic or cloying–so often the case with coconut. There are actually three softening ingredients; cocoa butter, shea butter and almond oil. Perhaps the almond oil helps to enhance the fragrance, I’m not sure but I love it!
Kate Somerville ExfoliKate Intensive Exfoliating Treatment($85) – Clearly the best exfoliating treatment I have ever used. I apply all over my face, neck and chest using small circular motions with my fingers, then let it sit on my skin while I use the Spa Sonic. The enzymes in it work to dissolve dead skin cells and leave my skin glowing–for DAYS! This gem is expensive but I will gladly spend the money to attain radiant younger looking skin. If the word “intensive” scares you (it me a little) opt for the ‘Gentle’ version.
I keep it in my shower for two reasons:
1. So I don’t forget to use it twice a week and it’s most convienent to use in the shower.
2. My bathroom counter is waaaaay too crowded.
Spa Sonic Skin Care System ($65) - see that blue and white thing with the big brush head? That’s my Spa Sonic adn that’s my secret to keeping my skin soft, smooth and free of ’chicken bumps.’ The manufacturers say that the Spa Sonic can be used on the face too, but I much prefer to use my Skinsonic for my face. The SpaSonic is afforable and easy to use. I use it with whatever shower gel I happen to have around and lightly run the twirling brush head over my entire body, but especially on the tops of my thighs and under my arms where those pesky ‘chicken bumps’ like to congregate. It comes with 4 brush heads–the pumice stone is great for callused feet, and retails for $65 at Target.
Marc Anthony Beach Waves Amplifying Shampoo and Conditioner -just started testing this and will have a review soon. The beach collection also features a beach spray and amplifying lotion.
Bare Escentuals Purifying Facial Cleanser ($20) – light and creamy this cleanser doesn’t strip skin and works beautifully with my Skinsonic or Clarisonic. This is at least my third bottle I love it so much. I’ve used it every morning since it debuted a year ago. It’s worth noting what BE Purifying Facial Cleanser doesn’t have in it: Parabens, Sulfates, Synthetic Fragrances, Synthetic Dyes, Petrochemicals, Phthalates, GMOs or Triclosan. This alone is a good enough reason for me to go with Bare Escentuals.
WEN Cleansing Conditioner ($28) – this is the last dregs of the Ginger Pumpkin scent. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE what WEN does for my hair. I’ve raved about this umpteen times, it even made my “Best Beauty Discoveries of 2011.” . I’ve ordered Gardenia, the new scent for spring so I will review that when it arrives. You HAVE to try WEN, your hair will thank you! P.S.–it works on ALL hair types.
Boscia Jujube Rejuvenist Amino Body Wash ($30)- I love this body wash because it smells good but doesn’t linger so as not to interfere with my fragrance. It’s gentle, free of sulfates and fortified with amino acids. Jujube fruit encourages cell turnover, green tea acts as a natural deodrant, raspberry leaf and Panthenol-Vitamin B5 soothe and calm skin. It’s also supposed to help with redness and irritation so it’s perfect for dry winter skin or summer skin when your shaving more often. Because you know, I use my my winter growth’ to keep me warm in the winter.
Fresh Brown Sugar Body Polish ($38) - I got this in a set for Christmas and I love it! You can tell it’s been living in my shower because the writing has rubbed off! I originally got addicted to body scrubs when I tried one from Barefoot Venus. I love how smooth my skin feels after using a scrub but this goes one step further by leaving such a soft veil of fabulous smelling oil on my skin. I was always hesistant to try this because I generally don’t like foody smells and brown sugar wasn’t something I wanted to smell of. NO ONE told me the scent was infused with lemon and citrus scents!!!! Why, ladies why wasn’t moi I let in on the secret????? I really want to get this fragrance for summer, it makes me feel so fresh and clean!
Crabtree and Evelyn La Source Warming Foot Smoother ($22) - this self warming treatment will exfoliate, condition and moisturize your feet to leave them soft and silky smooth. The blend of Tahitian sand with salts and fine pumice will remove rough, dry skin, while macadamia nut oil and shea butter combine to soften and moisturize. A luxuriously warming treat for aching feet. This feels wonderful and leaves behind a light oil to moisturize and soften. I put on cotton socks afterward and sleep in them to wake up to super soft tootsies!
Barbasol Pure Silk Shave Cream – this shaving cream is thick and allows for a really close shave. It’s dirt cheap and you don’t need to use half a can on each leg–it will last a good long time. I have the yummy raspberry scent. Oh, and as a super nice touch, the can is rustproof!
Gillette Venus Razor – nicks and cuts be gone! More often than I’d like to admit I end up with bloody legs after a shaving session. The Venus razor glides over knobby knees and around ankles. The combination of the Venus razor and Barbasol Pure Silk shave cream has probably saved me from getting a blood transfusion.
AVEENO Pure Renewal 2-in-1 Shampoo and Conditioner ($7) – in the process of testing, review coming soon.
Thank you for joining this tour of my shower, are any of these products familiar to you?

Great stuff! Did you neaten up just for us?
I also love what WEN does for my hair but every 3 months,I have to rotate in a clarifier for a couple days. Still, silky smooth hair and no flyaways.
I also have some Crabtree and Evelyn La Source products. It’s getting to be that time of year to pull it out of my linen closet. I love the smell, but I don’t use it in winter.
Dang girl, it’s so clean and neat. I’m not letting you come to my house, that’s for sure!!
I should keep the SkinSonic in the shower. I don’t know why I didn’t think of it. I don’t have the Spa Sonic but I’d love that in the shower.
Marcia, I cleaned up before I took the pictures!
I love the Exfolikate Body and really need to try the face version. I finally got a Boscia product this week, I’ve heard nothing but good things about the brand. Thanks for giving us voyeurs a peek in your shower
.
Ooooh, maybe I need Exfolikate body!
This was so interesting to read what you have in your incredibly organized shower! I love your shower curtain, towels, etc. Fun to see! x
I am also in love with that Bare Escentuals Cleanser! I have only been using it through the winter and I hope my skin continues to like it as much in the summer. I removes all my makeup and leaves my skin soft and moisturized. I am loving it right now!
I use it year round and have been through 3 bottles of it!
I never store stuff in my shower because I nver remember to close them properly and water gets into the product :/ and then i forge to use some of them.
Is that an actual shelf built into your shower wall?
Nice post!
Yes! The way the shower is built with the shelf and little cubbies make it much easier to be organized, but I must admit I cleaned up before I took pics!
I had no idea WEN Pumpkin Ginger came in the 32oz size – I would have bought it – it’s my all time fav – I only had it in the 16oz and ordered 2 extras. I am huge over Kate Sommerville face exfoliate too. Cannot wait to try the Crabtree and Evelyn foot treatment! I am totally into foot pampering.
The Ginger Pumpkin was only available for Fall. I ordered the new spring scent, Gardenia can’t wait to get it.
Kate Somerville ExfoliKate Intensive Exfoliating Treatment is an expensive product but is worth every last penny. Amazing product!!!
I love this post! I use Exfolikate, and love it. I also always keep in my shower -so that I don’t forget to use it! I wish that my shower looked so tidy & pristine! I keep meaning to try WEN- I am going to have to try it when I finish my Oribe shampoo & conditioner.
You NEED to try WEN and then tell me if you like it. I cleaned before I took pics!!
I love my Spa Sonic! After reading this I am most certainly going to check out Wen. I have heard nothing but fabulous things about the brand. And honestly, my hair could use a little help.
Honestly, WEN is a game changer–one of the few products I can recommend to anyone without hesitation!!
