I absolutely LOVE when a product does double duty! Many products are advertised that way but few actually come through on the promise. Example: I really like cream blushes but the ones that claim they can be used for lips too are usually waxy and drying. Kudos to Sue Devitt for creating a true multi-tasking product!! Her Hydrating Marine Minerals Destination Eye Palette ($37.50) in Soloman Islands can be used as eye shadow, blush and bronzer with an equal amount of glowy goodness.
The palette is a mix of luscious pinks and bronze that reminds me of a gorgeous sunset. Apparently it reminds Sue Devitt of the Soloman Islands. The Solomon Islands Palette is inspired by the depth and diversity of the intricate underwater beauty Sue encountered in the South Pacific. Sue returned from discovering the untrammeled sparsely populated islands of the South Seas with a deep affinity for preserving this paradise of raw beauty. No matter what image it conjures up in YOUR brain, the combination of coral, pinks and bronze is stunning on eyes and cheeks.
There are four distinct shades that can be used separately or mixed together.
- Coral Reef - a coral satin
- Shell - a pale shimmering icy pink
- Neptune – a deeper pink
- Sea Bronze- a stunning shimmery bronze/copper–this has the most shimmer of the 4 shades
When swirled together these colors create a radiance that is nothing short of stunning. You will NOT look like a do-it-yourself glitter craft project exploded on your face, rather an ”I’ve been on the yacht in the Soloman’s for a few days” healthy sun kissed glow. You can even use the colors separately to highlight and contour cheeks. Use Shell on top on the cheekbones, Neptune or Coral Reef on the apples of cheeks and sweep Sea Bronze under the cheekbones to create depth.
And it doesn’t stop there beauties!! Soloman Island works on eyes too! I’ve used it several ways–one of my favorites is to use Shell on the lids and inner corners for a wide awake glowy eye, the coral for an amped up natural look and the beautiful Sea Bronze in the crease to bring out my blue eyes. The combination of looks you can create is endless and all the shades scream summer!
Let’s not forget this is mineral makeup. The Key Ingredients & Benefits are:
* Tamanu Essence – An antioxidant-rich ingredient that nurtures and hydrates delicate skin
* Ceramide 2 – Anti-aging properties promote vital, youthful looking skin; synergistic formula actively increases internal collagen production, promotes healthy circulation and restores critical energy
* Hyaluronic Acid – Helps the skin absorb water from the air and restores natural elasticity
* Sea Butter™ – A unique marine fortified shea butter that deeply hydrates
* Sea Salt Concentrate – Offers skin-softening benefits and acts as a natural preservative
The shadows are densely pigmented and the texture is soft and easy to blend. Packaging is okay– a plastic palette with a clear top. What I do like about the palette is that the ”waves” of color are wide enough to use alone and even when swirling together, they are still defined.
Sue Devitt Hydrating Mineral Eye Makeup Palette is available for $37.50 in the following exotic destination-inspired shades: Kilimanjaro (purples), Blue Waters (blues), Green Isles (greens), Serengeti (browns), Solomon Islands and Beausoleil (nudes). I also have Serengeti and I like it very much as well, I may have to purchase Beausoleil as well. There is a Friends and Family sale of 20% off ALL purchases going on NOW until July 9th!
Bottom Line: Soloman Islands is a triple threat! Use an an eye shadow palette, bronzer and blush! Considering the price of $37.50, that’s a bargain. This has been my go-to palette to get that healthy summer glow since it’s been raining here all spring and summer! Sue is an accomplished makeup artist and one of the first to use marine ingredients in her products. I love everything I own by Sue Devitt ( the Eye Intensifier Pencils rock!) and in my opinion the brand is often overlooked and made for over 40 women!! An anti-aging eye shadow? Nearly unheard of!!

Those are super beautiful colors…
Mineral make up! Healthy and pretty.
Wow the colors are so much more vibrant than I expected just looking at the first pic! Especially the coppery bronze. So pretty
You just gave me the idea what to pick up from Macy’s! It’s time to revisit Sue Devitt
