Splurge v.s. Steal: WEN Cleansing Conditioner v.s. Marc Anthony Oil of Morrocco Argan Oil Collection

It’s no secret that WEN Cleansing Conditioner from Chaz Dean has been a lifesaver for my hair. It really does make my hair soft and as silky as satin sheets. It’s a great product, I love it!  However, at $29 for a 16 oz. bottle it gets expensive. Add to that price the fact that you use 12-40 pumps (depending on your hair length) of product, you can quickly say buh-bye to a LOT of dead presidents!  I didn’t think there was anything on the market that could ever compare to WEN, but that was before I tried the Marc Anthony Oil of Morocco Argan Oil Collection. The ENTIRE  collection retails for $21.97!!!

Marc Anthony True Professional Hair Care has quickly become my go-to brand for solving my hair care issues. There is SO much variety in the line, no matter how unmanageable you might think your hair is, Marc Anthony has a solution to your problem. And let’s face it, it’s never just ONE thing right? Whether it’s body issues–thanks to Menopause I now have a fat stomach AND Thunder Thighs, or skin issues–sun damage AND wrinkles, or hair issues–no body AND color treated, at least my good friend Marc Anthony can tame badly behaved hair.  I had great luck (and fun I might add) with the Beach Waves Collection and my co-worker loved the Easy Lites At Home Highlighting Kit. The newest collection is the Oil Morocco Argan Oil Collection, using guess what? That’s riiiiiight… Argan Oil!

By now you’ve all heard what Argan Oil can do for your skin but it also works MAGIC on hair. Argan Oil is the foundation for the collection for it many benefits such as strengthening, moisturizing and shine and damage relief. Marc added the power of Keratin to fortify and protect the damaged cuticle. A damaged cuticle results in a roughened surface that makes hair dull, a frayed texture, causing frizz and tangles and a failure to stay closed which causes moisture to escape resulting in a weak structure and diminished elasticity.

Now, I, for one was afraid to use Argan Oil on my hair because it is so fine most EVERYTHING  weighs it down and putting OIL on my hair just sounded cray-cray to me! But, being the good sport I am and being YOUR guinea pig tester, entirely for YOUR benefit, I gave it a try. And…..good news….I flippin’ LOVE this stuff!!

The Marc Anthony Oil of Morocco Collection consists of  three products that will TRANSFORM dry, lifeless, dull, damaged hair.

1. Sulfate Free Argan Oil Shampoo ($6.99)  – this shampoo is infused with Keratin, Grape See Oil and Argan Oil to restore strength, revive shine, preserve color and control frizz. The consistency is fairly thick, it lathers well, rinses easily and a quarter size does my whole head. The smell is divine!!

2. Argan Oil Conditioner ($6.99) – also formulated with Keratin, Grape Seed Oil and Argan Oil, a little goes a long way. It protects from damage, gets the tangles out (something I have a problem with since my hair is so fine), and deeply penetrates to both fortify and smooth frizz.

3. Argan Oil Treatment ($7.99) – I was surprised at how lightweight this oil is. Made with Mediterranean Olive Oil and Argan Oil, it does not weigh my hair down or leave it looking or feeling greasy like regular Argan Oil does. It also has Keratin, Vitamin E and Shea Butter to hydrate and soften the hair. Truly, my hair is über soft and silky. I can’t stop touching it. While my hair isn’t dry, I do have some new hair growing in that is grey (damn it!). This short, course grey hair sticks up in my part making me resemble Alfalfa from Our Gang more than I would like.

The combination of these three products calms the new grey “Alfalfa” hairs, gives my hair shine and makes it super soft and silky. I didn’t try the products separately so I don’t know if the results would be the same. I’m loving how my hair looks and feels, especially for the price!

Marc Anthony products are available at Ulta, RiteAid, Drugstore.com and other retailers.

Prime Beauty Grade: A   For this Splurge vs Steal, I’ll take the Marc Anthony Argan Oil Collection, the brand has not disappointed me yet!
