Sol De Janerio Bum Bum Cream!

Purchased by me

I’m not really into gourmand scents. I don’t care to smell like banana bread or an apple pie. When I walk into a room I want people to say “wow she smells good” not “who went to cinnabon?” So imagine my surprise when I fell in love with Sol de Janeiro Bum Bum Cream–it’s scented with pistachio and caramel!

My avoidance of foody scents coupled with the misguided notion that Bum Bum cream was meant for cellulite kept me from this gem for far too long. It wasn’t until I tried the Brazilian 4 Play Moisturizing Shower Cream that I became seduced by scent and …..I’m addicted. You won’t be wondering if you forgot to apply moisturizer with Bum Bum cream, the scent lingers. I love that I can smell it throughout the day.

Fragrance Notes:

Top: pistachio, almond
Mid: heliotrope, jasmine petals
Dry: vanilla, salted caramel, sandalwood

You would expect a tropical scent, maybe coconut or some type of tropical flower. Instead, it’s a delicious combination of pistachio and caramel. The fragrance opens with pistachio and almond right away, then the floral mid notes show up lending a soft, feminine touch and the vanilla caramel brings a nice warmth to the dry down. The fragrance is quite strong so if you don’t like sweet or vanilla scents, stay away.

INFUSED WITH NATURE’S BEST, ALL-POWERFUL BRAZILIAN EXTRACTS:

Guaraná, with five times the caffeine of coffee, has powerful natural properties that help stimulate circulation, boost energy and smooth skin like no other.

Açaí is the antioxidant super fruit powerhouse that helps keep skin looking and feeling healthy and young.

Cupuaçu Butter, the Amazon’s answer to Shea Butter, is chock full of fatty-acids, Phytosterols and Polyphenols, powerful ingredients that help lock in moisture and restore skin’s elasticity.

Coconut Oil is all the rage now but Brazilians have been enjoying their ample supply for centuries. Melts easily into skin to soften, condition and moisturize.

Brazil Nut grows on trees along the banks of the Amazon, Negro and Tapejós Rivers. Long valued for the ability to strengthen the immune system, the seeds actually helps support and maintain health skin. Today we know it’s because it has the highest concentration of the super mineral selenium, found in any food.

Guayusa is a native Amazonian power leaf, naturally packed with loads of caffeine and antioxidants. The leaf contains a distinctly synergistic blend of vitamins, minerals and fifteen essential amino acids.

There are no nasties here, it is formulated without: Phthalates, Parabens, Animal By-Products, Propylene Glycol, Synthetic Colors, Pegs, Petrolatum.

Bum Bum Cream has a surprisingly light, whipped, silky texture. It glides over the skin and absorbs without feeling greasy or oily. The fast-absorbing texture contains just enough mica to add a perfect Brazilian glow and the formula helps your body look and feel its smoothest. It is also supposed to firm but I haven’t noticed any difference in that area, though I may be beyond help. What it has done though, is deeply hydrate my skin within a few days and helped to soothe my dry winter skin. That’s because cupuaçu butter is like cocoa butter on steroids. It penetrates the skin exceptionally well, getting deep into the layers of skin to deliver a deeply-hydrating, almost plumping, effect.

Sol de Janeiro Bum Bum Cream is available in 8.1 oz for $45 and 2.5 oz for 20. I also love the shower cream and now there is a fragrance mist and hand cream as well! I know it’s pricey but I think it’s worth it for the deep moisturization it provides to thirsty skin. I usually wait for a 20% off sale at Sephora and then stock up. If you can’t afford the cream, then consider purchasing the travel size for $20 or the shower cream for $25.

Bottom Line: Sol de Janeiro Bum Bum Cream has a heavenly scent and a truly luxurious feel on the skin. Be careful, it’s highly addictive!

Renu reviewed this cream before the holidays, and I sought it out at Sephora. It smells heavenly – tho you’re right, not a tropical scent – and if I hadn’t already spent so much money, I would have bought it. It’s on my list for this year
