Benefit makes some of the best blushes on earth and now those famous Box O’ Powders have an Ultra Plush Lip Gloss counterpart. What a fabulous idea!! I tend to match my blush with my lip color the majority of the time–it just looks more polished so I was super excited for these glosses. Two of my favorite blushes of ALL time are Coralista and Bella Bamba, both of which are back in rotation for the summer. Benefit is launching six Ultra Plush Gloss shades ($16) that correspond with six of their most popular blush colors. Hervana (another fav), Thrrrob and Georgia didn’t make the cut–maybe at a later date? I tried the following four of the six.
Here’s the line up:
- Bella Bamba — sheer bright watermelon
- Dandelion — sheer pearly pink
- CORALista — sheer coral
- Hoola — shimmering golden nude
- Dallas — dusty rose
- Sugarbomb — shimmering pinky nude
Don’t let the swatches fool you–all these shades apply very sheer. There are two finishes; opaque and a tiny bit of sparkle. Dandelion and Sugarbomb have some sparkle and Coralista and Belle Bamba are opaque with not much tint to them. Of these four, Sugarbomb has the most color and sparkle, Dandelion shows up as a nude–almost clear, Coralista has a nice tint and Belle Bamba is more transparent. All are fairly thick and have a heavy fruity fragrance. They are slightly sticky but not enough to be bothersome. I was surprised by how much I liked Sugarbomb–it has just enough color and sparkle to make for a pretty casual summer look.
I prefer more pigment in my lip colors but I know there are lots of you that like a sheer glossy lip and these will definitely give you that. The slanted tip on the tube helps a LOT with application so I appreciate that. Wear time is about 2-3 hours before they start to fade away.
I got this 4-pack mini First Class Set from HSN, it’s a great way to test these out for just $26. They also have sets of the blush and matching gloss for $29.50. The separate glosses are available this month at benefitcosmetics.com as well as your favorite retailers and counters.
