The Smith sisters manufacture and distribute a natural, organic and eco- friendly line of skincare right out of their family farm in Canada. Their initial goal was to create natural products that stood up to their mainstream non-natural counterparts, but they soon discovered their products perform better! The sisters were inspired by brands such as Dr.Haushka and Burt’s Bees. Flash forward and they now often receive letters, emails and phone calls from their customers telling them how their products have helped them with sensitive and troubled skin (conditions such as eczema, psoriasis and rosacea).
One of the sisters best selling products in the line is the Marshmallow Face Cream ($26). If you’re like me you immediately think of this:
We’re not talking this kind of marshmallow. This face cream is made from the mallow root, a family of plants found in tropical marshy areas that has many medicinal purposes among them healing and softening.
The cream is very lightweight, fluffy and has a lovely citrus orange fragrance due to the orange blossom floral water and bergamot oil in the formula. The scent doesn’t last long, but if you are sensitive to smells, it can be quite strong initially. Speaking of the formula, it is not the least bit greasy and absorbs very quickly. I love how light it feels on my skin but still provides good hydration throughout the day. The addition of yeast derived collagen further moisturizes and helps strengthen skin while antioxidant rich rice bran oil helps heal and regenerate. I’m hoping the presence of chamomile and aloe vera will help with the redness I have on my cheeks and chin too.
Packaging is a fairly heavy glass pump jar. I much prefer pumps to jars that I have to stick my fingers in. This is not fancy packaging and that suits me fine, you can’t beat $26 for this 2.0 oz. bottle. I don’t have to tell YOU what department store moisturizers cost!
I’ve been trying to incorporate more natural products into my skincare routine but I find most just don’t perform very well. That’s why I’m so excited about the opportunity to try Smith Farms Marshmallow Face Cream. I’ve been using it in the morning and evening with great results– my skin feels amazingly soft and supple.
