Smashbox’s Wondervision Holiday 2013 Collection is inspired by a kaleidoscope of infinite multi-faceted looks. The eyeshadow palettes are in the shape of a hexagon (much like a kaleidoscope) with six colors and the lipglosses have high shine and a prismatic iridescence. I purchased the limited edition Wondervision Eye Set in Cosmic ($32) for the pretty teal and sapphire shades, but there is so much more. I’ll review Cosmic today. I’m kicking myself for not purchasing the lip gloss set too. I may have to remedy that soon 🙂
Smashbox Cosmic Eye Set consists of:
- 6 Eyeshadows in Sandstone, Silver, Luster, Aqua, Smoke, Sapphire
- Full Exposure Mascara in Jet Black
- Limitless Eye Liner in Onyx
- How to Get the Look Cards
Sandstone is matte warm ivory, Silver appears in the pan as a pale taupe but is actually a shimmery oyster, Luster is a matte taupe, Aqua is a shimmery teal, Smoke is a matte dark grey and Sapphire, a deep shimmery navy blue with silver and blue sparkle. All the shadows are very creamy, even the matte shades. All have good pigment and the best thing–NO fallout! One word of caution–I did get some fading after wearing the shadows for only four hours so make sure to use a good eyeshadow primer.
Sadly, I’m not a fan of the Smashbox Full Exposure mascara. It did not add any length or volume and I don’t care for the big and LONG brush. It didn’t flake or smudge but I expect more from a mascara. The Limitless Waterproof Eyeliner in Onyx is very soft and smudges easily for a smoky look.
For this look I used Sandstone on the brow bone, Silver on the lid, Aqua in the crease and Sapphire to line the bottom lashes. I also used Oynx to line upper lashes with Sapphire on top blended a bit.
Complete Look: Eyes-Smashbox Wondervison Eye Kit in Cosmic, Smashbox blush in Chiffon, Make Up For Ever Lab Shine lipgloss in Shimmering Quartz Rose.
Bottom Line: the Smashbox Wondervision Eye Set is a great value for 6 eyeshadows, a liner and mascara. The shadows are of exceptional quality; creamy, easy to work with and no fallout! I do wish they lasted a bit longer but I would still recommend these sets. Also available in Sparks (neutral) and Flash (purples).
