The Smashbox Summer Collection is all about soft natural neutrals. Uh, hello…pick me!
Photographers use ‘softboxes’ to diffuse bright light making the light that falls on their model appear softer and more natural. That was the inspiration behind the Softbox Collection. If you like soft, easy shades and a refined ‘me but better’ look, then you will want to check out the Smashbox Softbox Collection. Personally, I’m all about neutrals so this collection appeals to me and I like the fact that there are some darker shades to take your office look into evening. The collection includes:
Softbox Lip Gloss Collection ($29)
These are all mini sizes and there are three new colors in the set.…

I purchased the Softbox Palette and a Soft Effects Powder Eye Liner in Gunmetal. Actually the Soft Effects liners came out with the In Bloom Spring Collection –I’m late in discovering it. While I do love the Softbox Palette with all its soft and pretty shades, the Soft Effects Powder Eye Liner is awesome! According to Smashbox “Get diffused, never-harsh lines of color with our unique powder formula that mimics the effect of a soft-focus lens.” I wholeheartedly agree! I was very skeptical when my Nordstrom Beauty Specialist (yes, there is such a thing & you should take advantage) suggested it, and she’s usually right so I took a chance. How the heck can a powder eye liner not dump a ton of powder on your face? Especially when it’s packaged like a traditional liquid liner? How, I ask you, how?!
The unique packaging, that’s how. There are metal balls that rattle around in the wand of the eyeliner much like the mixing balls in nail polish. Shake the bottle, tap off any excess and create a sexy smouldering eye. It’s just that easy. Try as I might, I have never been able to master the winged liner/cat eye look—until now! The brush is just the right width and shape to get that perfect little wing at the end of the eye–and believe me, if I can do it, so can you. Don’t forget I’m the dweeb that cut out two left sides of a jumpsuit I was attempting to sew–doh! Of course the cat eye look is optional, but the brush on this eye liner makes lining super quick and easy and it lasts a surprisingly long time. If you’re looking for a very fine precise line, this is not the product for you. I chose the gunmetal shade and I really love it–it’s not as harsh as black and it has a touch of sparkle. Smashbox Soft Effects Eye Liner is available in 4 shades; Black, Brown, Gunmetal and Aubergine and retails for $22.
Please excuse my clumpy lashes–it’s not the mascara. My lashes have apparently decided they don’t like to be separated so they are ‘sticking together’ so to speak
