Review: Murad Refreshing Cleanser + A BCA Special

Cleansers are a very important part of any skincare routine (especially anti-aging) and choosing one that’s right for your type of skin is equally important. I’ve tried a bazillion (that’s a technical term) cleansers over the years and I thought I had found my Holy Grail many times only to discover after a few weeks of use my skin would feel dry and tight (I’m looking at you Philosophy Purity)!  I’ve tried creamy, foaming, non-foaming, oil, scrubs, powders—you name it.

Finally I think I have found THE ONE. I have combination skin so I need something that won’t strip my skin , is gentle but can still tackle removing my makeup and sunscreen. Heeeeeello Murad!

Murad Refreshing Cleanser ($29.50) is such a refreshing change from the usual suspects. Most cleansers (even very expensive brands) leave a heavy feeling residue or have the opposite effect by stripping  your skin leaving it feeling dry and so tight you think your face just might crack if you smile too much. This cleanser feels marvelous on the skin and even better after! It leaves my skin feeling soft, clean and hydrated. I’ve said this before and meant it, but NOTHING has felt this good and left my skin so moisturized. You wouldn’t think something this gentle would work so well, but it cleans down to the pores.

Key ingredients are cucumber extract to soothe as it refreshes and  Hawaiian White Ginger and Algae Extracts soften and smooth skin.

As part of the Murad Age Reform® line of anti aging skin care products designed to combat Genetic Aging, Murad Refreshing Cleanser removes complexion-dulling surface dirt and oil as it hydrates the skin. This cleanser is gentle enough for daily use, meaning that it won’t strip oil and moisture away from your skin. Cucumber Extract, Hawaiian White Ginger Root Extract and Algae Extract hydrate, soothe and firm skin. Treat your skin while you cleanse it with this cleanser specifically designed for the signs of Genetic Aging.

Since the cooler weather has hit, I’m all about putting moisture back in my skin and Murad Refreshing Cleanser helps me accomplish that. It claims to exfoliate too but I use Murad AHA/BHA Exfoliating cleaner (review coming soon) twice a week for that—this cleanser I use every day–AM and PM.

The consistency is rich and very creamy and lathers well. I’ve  used with it and without my Clairsonic and it performs well both ways, though I do prefer my Clarisonic. It smells fresh and clean.

Bottom Line: Murad Refreshing  Cleanser is a wonderful choice for over 40 women who have dry or combination skin or those that love in drier climates and are looking to add moisture dry climates. It looks and smells like a high end spa product.
