Ready, Set For bareMinerals READY Blush

Not to be outdone by it’s little sister, BUXOM True Hue Blush, bareMinerals READYTM Blush ($22) introduces 10 satiny shades that enhance cheeks with color lasting up to eight hours. Powered by proprietary SeaNutritive MineralTMComplex with antioxidants and cold-pressed camellia oil, this silky long-wearing formula delivers softer, smoother skin. Althought it looks like pressed powder, it’s not. The scientists at bareMinerals have developed a way to preserve the skin benefits of sea minerals that are normally lost during the pressing process. There are no parabens, binders, fillers or harsh chemicals.

These blushes are pigmented, smooth and blend easily. The shades are:

  • The One – nude pink
  • The French Kiss – watermelon pink
  • The Close Call – bronze taupe
  • The Tease – raspberry sorbet
  • The Confession – topaz rose
  • The Faux Pas- blushing pink
  • The Whisper – light nude
  • The Secret’s Out – soft violet
  • The Indecent Proposal – dusty plum
  • The Aphroisiac – peachy coral

I was given The Faux Pas, The Secret’s Out and Aphrodisiac to try.  The Secret’s Out is a matte, pale pink with plum undertones–perfect for ultra fair cool-toned ladies.

My favorite is The Aphroisiac–no, not for THAT reason–it’s a peachy coral silly! Unlike most of the other shades, this one has a touch of shimmer that imparts a pretty sheen to the cheeks. I find it to be much more peach than coral though. Those with darker skin tones may need more color.

The Faux Pas is a bright, happy pink. Patty will be reviewing this one in a later post.

The Faux Pas, The Skinny Dip Bronzer, The Aphrodisiac, The Secret's Out

Released along with the bareMinerals READY blushes are three bronzers; The Skinny Dip, The High Dive and The Deep End. The Skinny Dip is the lightest of them all–ideal for us pale girls. I’m flippin’ over it! It is probably the most natural looking bronzer I’ve ever used–no carrot skin or shimmer  in sight. I can use it all over as a bronzer–on forehead, nose, chin as well as a contour–under cheekbones, down the middle of the neck and along the jawline. Medium skin tones will opt for The High Dive and deeper skin will adore The Deep End. Good-for-your-skin ingredients like carrot oil help to firm skin–a nice bonus!!

Packaging is a black rubber compact (similar to NARS packaging) with a brush and a full size mirror. I prefer to use an angled blush brush but this one is soft and works fine.

Overall Thoughts:  I am most impressed with the texture and how long lasting this blush is. It claims to last for 8 hours and it actually does!!  It seems to melt into the skin, never looking as if it sitting on top. Most of the shades are matte and those that aren’t have a nice sheen to them–no glitter or sparkle. The bronzer is nothing short of fabulous! The shades are so natural and wearable, no one will ever know your faking it.  At $22 for the READY blush and $24 for the READY bronzers, these are a great value for such wonderful quality. My only complaint is that there are a lot of pink shades and The Aphrodisiac is way more peach than coral so I would like to see another coral added to the line.

NOTE: I’ve always liked bareMinerals but wasn’t especially fond of the loose powders. I adore everything from the READY line and am so excited that bareMinerals and BUXOM are continuing to expand the line. Look for new READY eye shadow duos and quads to be released soon.

  1. My favorite e/s duo is Bare Minerals The Scenic Route. I have worn it so much. I can’t wait for more to come out. Blushes will be on my wishlist too.

  2. Very pretty on you.

  3. The Aphrodisiac looks gorgeous for contouring. Bare Minerals products always delivers. I never been disappointed in them.

While I was never crazy about the foundation or the loose powder eye products, I LOVE their eye primer, face primer, and the Buxom glosses (darned Sephora!!), so I was anxious to see what you thought about the pressed products before I shell out the cash (thanks for being my guinea pig, Cindy!).
