PMD Beauty Personal Microderm At-Home Device!

If you read this blog regularly you know I am constantly blattering on talking about how important it is for older women to exfoliate their skin. That’s why I was so excited to learn about the PMD, the Personal Microderm Device you use at home! It’s absolutely perfect for over 40 skin!

Microdermabrasion is a procedure that uses suction and exfoliation to remove the outermost layer of dead skin. By removing this top layer, fresh, younger looking skin is produced in its place. I’ve had two mini microderm treatments from an esthetician and was pleased with the results, however, it’s expensive and I couldn’t keep up with the cost so the PMD is a fabulous alternative! Another benefit of the PMD is that it only takes 5 minutes! Anyone can work 5 minutes into your schedule once a week–your skin will thank you!

The Personal Microderm is an at-home tool that brings you the same results as professional microdermabrasion treatments! The patented spinning disc technology embedded with aluminum oxide crystals gently removes the top layer of dull, dead skin. These dead skin cells act as a barrier on the skin, and once they are removed, skincare products will be fully absorbed into the skin, resulting in maximum benefits. The tool’s vacuum suction helps stimulate, activate, and rejuvenate the skin. This suction also triggers the body’s production of collagen and elastin and it increases the skin’s cell renewal. Increased cell renewal is important because it generates new, healthy skin cells that are brighter, softer, and smoother. After the first use, your skin will feel softer, smoother and brighter. After eight to twelve weeks of consistent use, individual may see a reduced appearance of fine line and wrinkles, dark spots, and hyperpigmentation. A dream come true!!

So what are these magic discs anyway?? Each patented disc is hand dipped in Aluminum Oxide crystals. Aluminum Oxide is the same material that is used for microdermabrasion in many doctor’s offices. It is completely safe, innocuous, and non-toxic. It does NOT cause adverse skin reactions and is not carcinogenic. Because of this, Aluminum Oxide crystals are ideal for microdermabrasion and are the most popular choice of professionals.

The PMD comes with a white training disc, grey for very sensitive skin, blue for sensitive skin and green for normal skin. There are two discs of each color: one for the face and one for the body. Each disc lasts for 3-4 uses which should last you a month or so. PMD recommends using the device once a week only. It is not recommended if you are using chemical peels or products containing acids including hydroxy acids, malic acid, lactic acid AND/OR  retinoids or retin A.  Before it is safe to use the Personal Microderm, you must discontinue use of these products for at least seven days. Consult your doctor or dermatologist if you are unsure that the Personal Microderm is suitable for your skin.

I’ll be using the PMD once a week for the next 4-5 weeks. To track my progress, here is my unretouched ‘before’ picture. I’m hoping my brown spots will fade, the large pores in my T zone will lessen and some of crows feet will fly away. I know that’s a big ask, so wish me luck and I’ll check in again in 4 weeks!

Have you ever tried a microderm treatment?

Awesome! What a neat way to take care of those areas you don’t care for while not being invasive.

  • Robin Rue

I have been wondering about these. I would love to try this at home. Much easier to do it at home.

  • I bought one of these for acne scarring last year – will be getting it out once the clinical procedures are done with.

  • Wow I really need one of these! I’ve been looking for something new to clean and exfoliate my skin with. Thanks for sharing!

    • You’re welcome, come back to see the results!

  • Melissa Chapman

That microderm device looks to be a great tool that can give you an expensive treatment at home. I don’t have a lot of skin problems but this can help me just the same.

    • It important to exfoliate to keep skin healthy.

  • I have never done anything like a microderm treatment. I’d love to get a professional one before doing one at home. I have super sensitive skin so it would worry me. But that’s awesome there’s different lights for the different skin types.

    • I agree it sounds like the best option for you is try a professional treatment first or ask your derm what he/she suggests.

  • This looks like an awesome microdermabrasion set! I’m not quite brave enough to do it at home though.

  • Kaylyn

I haven’t tried one of these treatments before but it’s been on my radar. This looks like something I would like because I can do it at home!

  • Jen Sky Walker

I’ve never tried one of these treatments, but my skin is in need of some TLC so I should! I like the idea of using this tool at home so will have to get one myself!

  • Exfoliation is good for aging skin just don’t overdo it because it strips the skin of natural moisture which can lead to dryness. I exfoliate once or twice a week and I do in-clinic microdermabrasion called Oxygeneo maybe once every 6 mos

    • It’s recommended to use this only once per week.

  • I just gone done with a month testing it out and fell in love! It’s so fast and convenient, had I known I would have invested years ago!

  • I haven’t tried anything like this but I have all the same issues as you. I know that I need to work on these things.

  • Sometimes I forget about the PMD and then I re-discover it in my own routine and wonder why I ever stop using it lol

  • It does sound so interesting. I’d definitely try it.

Can’t wait to see the after. You are a brave soul showing all the flaws!

    • I feel like it might scare small children!

  • Katrina

looking forward to seeing the results, looks promising! I love that unicorn style brush by the way!

  • I definitely need to do something! I’m finding that makeup is beginning to settle into my pores and make my makeup job a mess! It stinks getting older! At least there are tools that can help us. Good Luck with your results!

  • Lindsey @andthekitchensink.net

I’ve always wanted to give microdermabrasion a try! This is really helpful and great because it’s at home.

  • I’m always skeptical of these things.

  • I love beauty devices like the Personal Microderm Device. They truly bring out the best in one’s skin!

  • This looks awesome! I can’t wait to see the progress that it makes. I really need to start working on a good skin routine – late 30’s here, and I have got to get it together!

  • I used to use this device a few years ago, but now that my skin is thinner from acid resurfacing treatments, it seems to cause irritations so I gave it away to a friend 🙁 it worked really well though!

  • Shelley Polarbelle

would it be really bad if I told you I got one last year, although it’s not all pinky and pretty, it’s just white, but I haven’t used it yet? :-0 I need to make time to do it!

  • TColeman

I have always wanted to use this system at home. I think I need to just breakdown and get one.

  • Sylvia

I just received a PMD to try out too. I’ve only used it for two weeks so far, but I can’t wait to see the final results!
