Move over Lancôme, there’s a new mascara at Make Up For Ever boutiques and Sephora ‘s everywhere! Make Up For Ever’s newest addition to their mascara line is Smoky Extravagant ($24) and is touted to give “extravagant volume and up close precision.” To be honest, I haven’t been impressed with MUFE’s previous mascara offerings, so I wasn’t particularly excited about this launch. However, being the mascara maven that I am and in the interest of ahem…scientific research, I wielded a new mascara wand and I must say, I’m diggin’ it.
Smoky Extravagant was designed for performers, to give dramatic impact even from a distance. Whether your stage is a movie set, runway or the office Smoky Extravagant delivers maximum length with ultra black pigment.
Natural mineral pigments made of micronized iron oxide coat each lash for mega concentration of dark, opaque pigment. The base of wax complex and abyssinian oil allows the mascara to glide on and remain smudge free. We all know Make Up For Ever creator Dany Sans is the Queen of smudge-proof, budge-proof makeup. The formula also contains panthenol Pro-Vitamin B5 to nourish and protect. I’ve been using Smoky Extravagant for a little over a week and am happy to report no crunchy lashes! In fact, my lashes feel soft and conditioned!
With a few exceptions, I’m not a fan of big mascara brushes but I’m loving this cone shape. The small end really grabs the tiny lashes on the inside corner and turned vertically, gets the bottom lashes nicely. The wide part of the wand lifts and elongates lashes with 580 bristles! I love the way my lashes look “fanned” out and separated. My only complaint is that the tube doesn’t do a good job of getting the excess mascara off the tip of the wand–you might want to wipe it off with a tissue before applying.
In these pictures I have no eye shadow or liner on and I didn’t even use a lash curler!
Bottom Line: if you want amazing length, decent volume and ultra black pigment, make sure to try Make Up For Ever Smoky Extravagant mascara!
Prime Beauty Grade: A (would have been and A+ but I need to wipe off the tip of the wand so I held back the plus)
