It’s not often I prattle on about a new moisturizer, but I’m issuing a GUSH ALERT right now for the new Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel Moisturizer ($18.99)! It is simply a older woman’s moisturizer nirvana. Having spent most of my adult life with oily or combo skin, I LOVE that is a gel rather than a cream. Now that I’m ahem, more mature, I still love a gel moisturizer because it doesn’t feel greasy or sticky–I still can’t wear a dense, thick moisturizer, nor do I like the feel of it on my skin. Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel is supremely lightweight, absorbs quickly and fully and feels cooling and refreshing on the skin.
The science behind this moisturizer renews skin’s hydration levels by replenishing water and strengthening skin’s moisture barrier, resulting in hydrated, smooth, supple skin. I’ve been telling you about hyaluronic acid for years and how it can bind 1,000 times it’s weight in water, plus help to give you a bright appearance by keeping cells plumped and strong. Well, Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel is chock full of hyaluronic acid. Don’t let the term “acid” scare you–hhyaluronic acid is naturally present in the body. As an anti-aging treatment, hyaluronic acid ensures you retain moisture and elasticity in your skin to keep those lines and wrinkles at bay. Essential for over 40 women!!
My skin feels exceedingly soft and supple–I can honestly feel the difference if I use something different for a few days. Another thing I really like about the gel formulation is that I don’t get “breakthrough shine” half way through the day–I can touch my skin and it feels hydrated through the day without getting great even in the T-zone. I love, love, love this under makeup! It provides a beautiful canvas and doesn’t ‘ball up” under foundation, imparting ultimate hydration without shine.
There is a light spa-like scent that is very pleasant. If you prefer your skincare unscented, I can assure you the scent dissipates quickly. Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel is oil-free and non-comedogenic.
For those of you with extra dry skin, there’s Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel-Cream for Extra Dry Skin ($18.99). The texture is a bit more robust and it’s kind of a hybrid of a gel and a cream. It still absorbs quickly and offers long lasting hydration. I use this at night as my nighttime cream. This is oil-free, fragrance-free, dye-free and non-comedogenic; I don’t know why they don’t offer the regular Hydro Boost in fragrance free–they should!
Also included in the line is Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel-Cream Eye ($18.99). I haven’t tried it yet but I can’t wait to!!
Bottom Line: Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel has simply got to be THE best drugstore moisturizer on the market. This is highly effective skincare with essential anti-aging ingredients at a FABULOUS price. Highly recommended for women over 40!!
