As a beauty junkie I get on little “kicks” or “rants” or even “tears” if you will,  where I become obsessed with a single notion. The past month or so my quest has been to find the perfect full coverage foundation for my combo, aging, sun-damaged and recently dry skin. A challenge I know, but in this vast universe there must be at least ONE other person that has the same skin issues as me. Right?

Issues aside, I may have found the perfect full coverage foundation for over 40 skin-BECCA Ultimate Coverage Creme Foundation ($44).  Now, you may be wondering why I want a full coverage foundation. Well, if I had J’Lo’s glow, Charlize Theron’s bone structure and Nicole Kidman’s suspicious lack of lines and wrinkles, I may not need that much coverage. Unfortunately, I have lines and wrinkles, uneven skin tone, some sun damage in the form of brown spots, bags under the eyes and redness on my cheeks and around my nose. So there you have it, ‘nuf said?

With very few exceptions (two to be exact) I just can’t wear most BB and CC creams. They sink into my lines, accentuate my pores and don’t cover my redness. While I need a full coverage foundation, I certainly don’t want to look as if I’m wearing one.  I want my complexion to look smooth, not cakey and let’s just skim right over those wrinkles and pores shall we? I also don’t like feeling like I’m wearing mask–the foundation needs to be lightweight to let my skin breathe.

BECCA’s new Ultimate Coverage Complexion Creme Foundation ticks all those boxes. It’s a  full-coverage yet breathable foundation formulated with high concentrations of pigment and water.  The formula contains a balance of 21 percent pure pigment and 22 percent water, which work together to completely conceal imperfections, redness, hyperpigmentation, and uneven texture in a weightless cream. Most foundations only contain 10 to 15 percent pigment and 5 to 10 percent water.  This foundation is also free of parabens, sulfates, phthalates, alcohol and fragrance. Score!

The makeup artists at BECCA suggest using the One Perfecting Brush for a seamless application;  apply one pump directly to the bristles of the One Perfecting Brush and buff into the skin. For more buildable coverage, apply pump to the back of the hand, sweep bristles over foundation and apply to the face, adding as necessary. Just dab a bit more in any areas that you may need extra coverage; for me, my red chin. Because the foundation is so highly pigmented, it works wonders for redness, blemishes and imperfections making it perfect for us over 40 girls!

BECCA’s Ultimate Coverage Complexion Creme Foundation is what I wanted bareMinerals bareSkin to be. bareSkin was more sheer and it slid right off my face. BECCA Ultimate Coverage stays all day and does not transfer to clothes. If you have very dry skin you might want to mix a pea size of your moisturizer with the foundation. I always use moisturizer under anything so it’s not an issue for me.

The finish is satin: not dewy but not matte–a lovely natural look. BECCA’s Ultimate Coverage Complexion Creme is available in 20 shades so you are sure to get a good match. Cashmere is a great match for my light, neutral skin tone. Packaging is a sanitary pump bottle–yay!

Available at Sephora and Sephora.com

Bottom Line: great pigment, full coverage and lightweight, what more could you want from a foundation?

This sounds very promising! I do get almost full coverage from my BB & CC creams and from CoverGirl truBlend liquid foundation, but I’ve been on the hunt for something else that’s full coverage. It looks beautiful on you. I’ll try some at Sephora next trip for sure!

I like that there are 20 shades, so many BB and CC creams have a very limited shade range.

I like the variety of shades! I have that Becca perfecting brush, it was okay in the beginning then it started to shed like crazy. I was disappointed in the quality of that brush.

    • http://www.primebeautyblog.net cindy

I’ve only used the brush for blush and it works great for that.

In theory, I never WANT a full-coverage foundation. But due to my redness issues, I really need one. And like you, Cindy, I love the quality of BECCA products. This sounds like perfection and you skin gives evidence of that! Off to continue my foundation binge for the month ( MUA Julie Hewitt’s Instagram posts have convinced my to try her mineral foundation, and I was also sucked into the It Cosmetics vortex and bought their CC compact at Ulta. But virtually no coverage for me, anyway!).

Cindy this looks fantastic on you!
Somehow, I have never tried a Becca product, no clue why. I will definitely pay it more mind.
Thanks for a great post and all of your charming honesty!

So happy to read your review! I love Becca foundation: bought a couple of the sticks when they were being discontinued. So I didn’t /need/ to try the full coverage… It’s everything you say: I’m over 60, and it makes me look like I have great skin. Truly unbelievable and worth the price!

  • Erika C.

Great review! I haven’t tried BEXCA Cosmetics as of yet, but I’m willing to try this foundation after reading this. I love the pump, so convenient.

    • Erika C.

      Oops meant BECCA (typo) =)
