New! BECCA Beach Tint Shimmering Souffle!

BECCA Watermelon (360x480)

Press Sample Purchased by me

Some things just go together: peanut butter and jelly, thunder and lightening, eggs and bacon and my personal favorite vodka and anything.  BECCA cosmetics has combined two of their best selling products, Beach Tint blush stains and the iconic Shimmering Skin Perfector highlighters. The result? BECCA Beach Tint Shimmering Souffle ($27)! This blush/illuminator is a flawless combination with a whipped, lightweight gel texture that imparts a radiant glow to cheeks. This is what I wanted the much hyped Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blushes to be but they failed AND they are more expensive!

BECCA’s Beach Tint Shimmering Souffle is formulated with brown algae extract to provide hydration and skin smoothing and is water-resistant and paraben free. The unique texture is created by grinding the dry color pigments from the beach tints and shimmering skin perfectors into an ultra fine powder, combining them with a blend of liquids and then whipping them into a air-light souffle texture that feels amazing on the skin. They are über light and airy, have a slight cooling sensation, yet are packed with color that lasts for 8 hours or more!

It is this super airy texture that I love. A little dab with your fingers onto the cheeks and it just melts into your skin: it feels like a drink of water for your face. The coverage is buildable while still keeping a completely natural look.

There are six shades available and I think BECCA did an excellent job with the color pairings:

I tried Watermelon/Moonstone which  BECCA describes as a red coral infused with gold. I disagree; I think the color is a pretty pinky coral with a warm gold sheen. This particular jar had a lot of gold in it, I had to dig a bit to get to the actual color. I’m sure this varies with each batch. The sheen is gorgeous; no glitter, no sparkle just a beautiful radiant glow. These are so easy to wear: dip your finger into the pot,  tap apples of the cheeks, blend lightly and you’re done–it really is that simple!

Left: gold overlay, Right: watermelon moonstone

Guava/Moonstone is a warm pink with a golden sheen.  For my my fair skin, it works perfectly but I do have to build up the coverage with two layers. The texture is not sticky like a cream blush–it fact it feels like it dries down to a powder. Guava/Moonstone is one of the lightest shades in the collection and may not deliver enough color on medium to dark skin tones. The sheen is beautiful and perfect for over 40 ladies who don’t want to emphasize pores and is perfect for those with dry skin too!

The packaging is a pretty glass jar (0.19 fl.oz.) about the size of a gel liner jar. Don’t let the size be off -putting you only need a very small bit (smaller than a pea size) on each cheek . Since the opening is quite small, getting a brush into the jar is difficult but I honestly think using your fingers is the way to go anyway: these blushes blend effortlessly. There is a light, fruity scent when you open the jar but it goes away very quickly.

The addition of moonstone skin perfector gives these blushes their radiance without being over the top shiny or glittery. I have been a long time fan of both the beach tints and the shimmering skin perfectors and this is the ideal pairing of two iconic BECCA products mixed together to impart a radiant, healthy flush to cheeks.

Bottom Line: if you have been searching for that youthful glow you thought was gone, find it with BECCA Beach Tint Shimmering Souffle! These ultra lightweight blushes have just enough gleam to add a luminosity to the skin.  I do suggest testing these in the store– each jar is a little different and all the shades kind of look alike in the jar.

      • Mamavalveeta03

Oh Lordy, there’s a story behind that one for me…college days. Someone had the bright idea to plug a watermelon with a vodka bottle and devour the result. Not nearly as pretty as these blushes!
