2015 was a great year for beauty and cosmetics. I discovered some fabulous new beauty brands and some that were not new per se but new to me. Read on for the highlights!
ColourPop was born, raised and made with love in the City of Angels (aka Los Angeles). They specialize in offering a zillion makeup options all with totally reasonable prices–I’m talkin’ like 5 bucks bishes! My first purchase was the Summer Loving In Bloom Set that included two blushes, one highlighter and three lipstiks. That was all it took for me to fall in love with ColourPop.
After whetting my appetite with the Summer Loving In Bloom set, I was excited to try the ColourPop eyeshadows and opted for the fabulous Mondays in Malibu Collection. ColourPop eyeshadows have a very unique texture; they are ultra creamy with an bouncy feel and they are super long lasting. There are lots of finishes too: satin, matte, metallic, ultra-metallic, pearlized and pressed pigments. I am so happy I found ColourPop eyeshadows!!
ColourPop is always coming out with something new and it’s easy-peasy to order online!
Charlotte Tilbury is not new but it was new to the US in 2014. I purchased a few things then but the prize of my CT collection launched in January 2015 and was limited edition. The Charlotte Tilbury Fallen Angel Eyeshadow Palette is stunning with a beautiful combination of shades, finishes and wonderful textures. I also repurchased the fabulous CT lipstick Bitch Perfect.
Laura Geller finally got my attention in late 2015 with two value sets. The first is Laura Geller Eye Dew Cream Shadow Crayon Trio ($25). This set of three neutral creamy crayons are my go-to when I need a pretty, polished look in less than 5 minutes. Opal is a pretty beige champagne, Amber is a peachy gold and Soft Metal is a silvery taupe. I love these– they do not crease, stay all the live long day and give you just enough time to blend.
The other set is Laura Geller Love Me Dew Lip Trio Crayon Set ($25). Wow, these lip crayons are much nicer than their more expensive counterparts! They are glossy, moisturizing, long lasting and feel like a balm on the lips. I got this set at Nordstrom and it has three beautiful and wearable shades: Mango Sorbet is peach, Happiful is a vivid pink and Watermelon Coooler a pinky coral.
Both of these sets are highly recommend: wearable colors, excellent quality and a big value!
Kat Von D was new to me thanks to my good friend and fellow blogger Phyrra. It started in January of 2015 with the cool-toned Kat Von D Interstellar Eye Shadow Palette and ended up with the warm-toned Kat Von D Monarch Eye and Lip Set. Both are highly pigmented, smooth and easy to blend. I’m really impressed with these palettes and look forward to trying more from the brand. Incidentally, if you want more information and reviews on Kat Von D products, check out Phyrra’s blog, she’s a Kat Von D expert!
The best thing for all hair types EVER is Viviscal Extra Strength Supplements for thicker, healthier hair, especially for over 40 women!
Keune Hair Care was new to me in 2015 and I’m so glad I discovered it! My poor, fine, thin hair got a dose of poof with the Absolut Volume line. Just look at the before and after pics!
And speaking of volume, no beauty tool does it better and more effectively than the VOLOOM Hair Volumizing Iron I’m cheating a bit because I actually used it for the first time in Dec. 2014 but it deserves a shout out none the less.
I count myself lucky as I was able to try Paula’s Choice Skincare in 2015 with products that were recommended specifically for me. I have since repurchased several items, especially the Resist Anti Aging Line and cannot recommend this brand enough!
Bath and Body
FarmHouse Fresh was new to me in 2015 and I am head over heels for this brand! I only wish I had learned about it earlier in the year so I could try more things. The Marshmallow Melt line had me smitten at first sniff and now I want try everything in the line!
