I love me a bronze/copper eyeliner as much as a bronze/copper eye shadow and that’s a WHOLE lot! The bronze fascination began when I realized that the color really made my blue eyes POP! Plus, I’m a sucker for most anything metallic and shiny–kinda like a fish drawn to shiny lure or a 70’s John Travolta to a disco ball.
NARS really hit the ball outta the park on this product, beauties! The Larger Than Life eyeliners are soft (but not too soft), creamy like buttah, long lasting with an absolutely gorgeous shade selection. There is no tugging or pulling on the delicate eye lid and as I’m typing it’s been 8 hrs and Via Appia is still going strong–even under my lower lashes. The color payoff on these is fantastic–both the depth and the complexity. They can be sharpened and even have a hidden sharpener in the end cap–thank you NARS! I did find it a bit difficult to sharpen but that’s probably my fault because I let it get too worn down. NARS has developed a superior product–again!!
Via Appia is a metallic bronze/copper that reminds me of Urban Decay Bourbon (another favorite) but the texture is creamier and the sparkle not as chunky. The shade is also close to Laura Mercier Brown Copper but LM is darker with more brown. After digging out what I thought were similiar shades from my collection, I was surprised to find that the Rosie Jane liner in Beech Tree is the closest, both in color and sheen.
