My Current (Compliment Worthy) Skin Care Routine

Hey beauties guess what? I got three, yes three sincere compliments on my skin last week. In light of this recent event, I wanted to share my latest skin care routine with you. I truly believe it is this combination of products that has made a difference in my skin imparting hydration and a brightness that is apparently noticable! The last comment came from a friend I haven’t seen in awhile and she said “your skin looks amazing, what are you using?” I started to tell her about my microneedling experience but then the cute waiter came to take our drink order and….well you know how that goes…end of conversation. Then when I drove her home, she mentioned it again, this time saying “really, your skin looks so moist and dewy, I need to know what you’re using. I’ll buy it, whatever it costs!”  Normally I would assume it was the third glass of merlot talking, but since I had received similiar comments all week, I thought you might want to know too. So, C this post is dedicated to you, listen up!

Cleanse with Exuviance Age Reverse BioActive Wash ($35) –I love this face wash. It’s a gentle foaming wash that exfoliates and stimulates cell turnover with a potent Polyhydroxy Acid/ Bionic blend. My skin feels so clean and soft– never tight and it works great with my Clarisonic.

DDF 10% Glycolic Toner ($35) – I use this toner after I cleanse. It helps to promote even skin tone and texture. I have been using this off and one for almost three years–I hope they never discontinue it. Sometimes I skip the cleanser and just use the toner. If you have very sensitive skin, you might want to skip this step.

Beautisol 99% Pure Peptide Rescue Serum ($120)- this is a recent and welcome addition to my skin care routine.  There are eight cutting edge peptides in this serum. Matrixyl™ 3000 and SYN®-COLL promote collagen synthesis while Peptamide™ 6 firms and tones the skin. Argireline®. Leuphasyl® and SNAP-8 band together to reduce and prevent wrinkles. Melanostatine®5 brightens photo-damaged skin while Aldenine® protects against further harmful UV damage. Within two days I noticed a brightness to my skin along with an increased radiance. My eyes keep getting worse and I hate wearing my glasses so if I was able to notice it, it is very apparent. The serum is a little thicker than most but absorbs quickly and doesn’t ball up when you apply moisturizer over it. Honestly, I have not been this pleased with a serum in quite some time–it made a huge difference in my skin in mere days–what more could you ask for? It is pricey–right now you can get 25% off with code NEWYEAR25 which brings it down to $95. This is a limited time offer and I don’t have an expiration date.

YBF Antioxidants Concentrate ($55) – this is a very lightweight serum that smells nice and light. What I like about YBF skin care is that their products are meant to be blended with what you already have at home.  The serum is clear and turns white as you rub into your skin–a little goes a long way. Key ingredients are Ferulic Acid, Spin Trap, Lipochroman -6 and Vitamin E. According to YBF, this is how it works:

Ferulic Acid

Ferulic acid is a great free radical scavenger.

Spin Trap

Spin trap, which is sometimes called an intelligent antioxidant, actually stabilizes molecules before they become damaging free radicals and so it’s extremely protective for your skin. In addition to its free radical superhero capabilities, spin trap also helps “recharge” other antioxidants, making them more effective and for longer periods which increases effectiveness of formulas containing spin trap.

Along with spin trap, is a potent protector from two types of free radicals attributed to aging skin and damage: ROS (reactive oxygen species) and RNS (reactive nitrogen species) free radicals.

Vitamin E

Vitamin E does a great job fighting ROS free radicals but also pairs with many other antioxidants, increasing their effectiveness and recharging antioxidants such as ferulic acid.

Mario Badescu Honey Moisturizer ($25) – this moisturizer is such a pleasure to use! I had doubts when it I saw that AHA was one of the ingredients, however there is no stinging whatsoever. The consisitency is fairly thick so I was worried I would have some breakthough shine during the day but that was not the case at all–it absorbs very well. Other ingredients include peanut oil, honey and orange extracts which probably contibutes to the excellent hydration. The smell is delightful–light oranges I think? I’m really enjoying this moisturizer, I’m amazed at how non-greasy it is.

Marie Louise Crème α-VC Moisturizer ($109) -this is another new product I’ve been testing out with great success. It delivers immediate hydration and luminosity without being greasy. Check out my review for Marie Louise Crème α-VC Moisturizer.

Reviva Labs Firming Eye Serum ($19) – Alpha Lipoic Acid & Vitamin C Ester helps protect and nourish. Mulberry and Lime lighten dark circles. Hyaluronic Acid & Allantoin, in a unique blending, moisturize and texturizes area. Perhaps the most remarkable thing about this eye serum is that you can use it on your eye lids! Yes, beauties, finally we over 40 women can remedy those crepey eye lids that have plagued us and look younger! The serum absorbs quickly and smooths and tightens beautifully. It definitely did diminish my crow’s feet, reduce puffiness and firm both the undereye area and my lids. The best part? it’s only $19! No need to spend hundreds of dollars on an eye firming serum ever again!!! I use this under whatever eye cream I’m using.

Exuviance Age Reverse Eye Contour ($68) – I’ve been using this eye cream for a couple of months now and love it. It’s very hydrating without being greasy. It makes a great eye base for concealer. It won my ‘best overall’ eye cream. I’m giving away 5 of these so make sure to enter to win one!

Reviva Labs Firming Eye Serum ($19)

Exuviance Age Reverse Eye Contour ($68

Twice a Week

YBF Prep Microdermabrasion  when I am not using the microneedling roller. Origins Modern Friction every other day when I using the microneedling roller. The gentle buffing paste is perfect for very gentle exfoliation.

Chella Resurfacing Mask & Lactic Treatment ($60) – Lactic acid and protease enzymes encourage cell turnover while Pro Vitamin B-5 restores moisture and elasticity. This mask makes my skin feel baby soft with no tingling, stinging or irritation. No redness either.

I feel the products that have really made a huge difference in my skin are the Beautisol 99% Peptide Serum, YBF Antioxidant ConcentrateMarie Louise Crème α-VC Moisturizer and KenzoKi Belle de Jour White Lotus Mask. The Beautisol 99% Peptide Serum and the YBF Antioxidant Concentrate pack a real one-two punch of good-for-you ingredients.

You know a post is a good one when I bypass the giveaway to read the blogpost first!!! 😉
Doesn’t it feel great when that happens? I have received compliments on my glowing, unlined skin (thank you, Mom, for insisting on sunscreen!), but find that I’m breaking out monthly on my chin. Do you think this routine helps with “clean pores”? Or isn’t that a “Cindy” issue?? (lol…)

    • cindy

I don’t break out anymore but parts of this routine will definitely help. The DDF 10% Glycolic Toner is great for breakouts as well as the Exuviance cleanser. Anything with Glycolic Acid is good b/c it exfoliates thereby not clogging pores and Salicytic acid is good for cleaning out pores. Do you use a Clarisonic? That really deep cleans. I’ve heard good things about the new cheaper Olay one but haven’t tried it myself.

  • I’ve been using the Beautisol serum and Marie Louise Creme a-VC moisturizer too. Other than 4 days of being sick, my skin has been looking great too. I only use the Beautisol once a day but I think I’ll switch it to twice a day.
I’m an eye cream fanatic and right now I’m using Beautisol’s Eye Want and Bright Eyes because I got a great deal on them by being part of their “club”. I’m very tempted though by the Exuviance, very!!

I really want to try both Beautisol eye products too!
