Eddie Funkhouser is a game-changing cosmetics brand created by veteran makeup artist, spokesperson and product developer, Eddie Funkhouser. Eddie’s philosophy of “high performance beauty, accessible to all” is spot on. He says his personal mission is to: “help women reconnect with their own, natural beauty and source energy through the exploration of color and creativity.” This totally makes me adore him. That and the fact that Eddie is accessible to his customers and enjoys it! #ASKEDDIE on twitter represents his desire to connect with his customers as often as he can so he can what he enjoys most about makeup: teaching, sharing and exploring!
The sweet and wonderful people from Eddie’s PR team sent me several products to test. I admit I was really, really excited to try the brand as my friend Marcia from Beauty Info Zone recommended it to me and has an ongoing love affair with Eddie. This review is going to be a series of sorts because I have so many fabulous EF products to share with you!
Since my makeup crack is eye shadow, I was thrilled to try one of the Eddie Funkhouser Hyperreal Eye Color Palettes ($14.99). Each palette consist of four hand picked shades designed to work together to create a range of looks. No surprise that I chose the warm the Ultimate Smoky Eye Palette. The shades are:
- Headliner – Matte beige
- Center Stage – Shimmering golden bronze
- Femme Fatale– Matte onyx
- Archetype – Shimmering chocolate
The four shades are a mix of matte, pearl, iridescent and shimmer finishes. The formula contains micro-milled pigments that offer vivid color with intense color payoff, a creamy texture, and… they don’t budge! The quality of these eye shadows is comparable to most mid-to high-end brands at half the price! Headliner makes a great base shade or as a brow bone shade, Center Stage is a creamy luscious shimmery-but-not-sparkly peachy bronze I used on the lid, Archetype is a lovely milk chocolate I used in the crease for contour and Femme Fatale I used as a liner. Femme Fatale is a matte black but it’s soft: some might even call it a deep charcoal. I love this shade to line because it’s not as harsh on over 40 eyes as a straight black. I got no fallout from the shimmer shades and the matte shades are blendable and not chalky at all. All these shades make for a perfect pairing and can take your look from day to night easily.
Another Eddie Funkhouser eye product I’m super excited about is the Ultra Definition Eye Lining Stylus ($10.99). The tapered brush tip creates a line thinner than Donald Trumps’s comb over. If you’re looking for a precision liner at an affordable price, you’ve found it! For those of you that prefer a thicker line, don’t worry–just turn the tip on it’s side and presto–a thicker line. I had no smudging or flaking in the 12 hours I wore this liner. It has replaced my Marc Jacobs Magic Marc’er Precision Pen that is more than TWICE the price! I’ve been using this everyday and want it in more colors; maybe navy, emerald green, deep brown–pretty please Eddie?
And to finish off a fab eye look you need a fab mascara–can I get a Hell yeah! Enter Eddie Funkhouser Quattro Variable Lash Mascara ($12.99). Eddie says “It’s an innovative adjustable application mascara that provides varying effects for stunning, full natural looking lashes. It has a dial wand that features four different levels of application. It has buildable formula with lengthening capacity. It’s also clump and smudge-free”.
What makes this mascara so unique is that the coverage is variable; it has four different settings. At the top of the mascara tube are dots–by turning the handle to the different dots, you change the shape of the brush. Genius, right? The idea is to be able to customize your look. I often use two mascaras to layer; one for separating and one for volume. With Eddie Funkhouser Quattro Variable Lash Mascara you can apply one coat at the one dot level then add another layer to pump up the volume with the dot four level–no more using two mascaras!
1 • Lengthens and separates for a natural lash look
2 •• Enhances fullness and curl
3 ••• Boosts lash density and extends
4 •••• Amplifies lashes for ultimate length, volume and curl
Of course you’ll want to allow each coat to thoroughly dry prior to another coat.
Quattro Variable Lash Mascara is formulated with waxes and polymers to condition the lashes. I experienced no flaking, clumping or smudging.
Total Eddie Funkhouser look. I will review the lips and face products in separate posts.

Bottom Line: I’m so thrilled with the Eddie Funkhouser products I’ve tried, I want to stand on a busy street corner and shout “luxury quality cosmetics at a drugstore price.” I already have a list of more things I want to buy. I highly recommend you give Eddie Funkhouser a try, but hands off he’s my new bestie!
