Day 4 of Mascara Madness focuses on Dior DiorShow Extase.  Okay beauties, here’s a goodie– DiorShow Extase, the newest in the Dior mascara line! This brush is supposedly “tiered” styled after the tiered Couture dresses from the House of Dior. The tiered brush is designed to give maximum volume, coating each lash. I can tell you this, it is very thick and gloppy coming out of the tube. However, if you give it a little wipe with a tissue before application though, you’re totally fine and you WILL notice added length. I notice this with Lancome Hypnose Drama also; it must be common with these thicker voluminizing formulas and I don’t really care as long as I get long, thick dramatic lashes!
Extase delivers outstanding length even in just one coat! It is a vast improvement over DiorShow–the formula is much wetter, has better wear and doesn’t make lashes stiff. It’s much smoother, gives more volume than DiorShow and doesn’t dry out as fast making application easier. The pigment is nice and black–maybe not as black as Black Out but that’s not as issue for me. Extase is extraordinarily long wearing and won’t smudge, budge or flake even after 10 hours of wear. My only issues with this mascara is that:
- You need to get the excess off the wand before application because too much comes out of the tube
- More than two coats and you can get clumping. I need to use a lash comb with this product.
At $28, Extase is more expensive than DiorShow ($24) or Iconic ($27 another favorite of mine). That being said, if you want super long, dramatic lashes, Extase might be right for you!
Packaging: elegant gold tube with Dior logo, unusual brush that catches every lash
Quality: high in pigmentation, no smudges or flakes
Value: a luxury brand at a luxury price
Best For: a high drama look, someone who likes Dior mascaras (me!), price is not an issue
Overall:excellent at lengthening, provides volume, is high performing, long lasting, and holds a curl. Can get clumpy with too many coats. Great multi-tasker!
Grade: A- In my reviews of the other mascaras, I mentioned I wanted some drama–well BAM! Extase provides it!

Wow! Well, it may be expensive, but clearly it is worth it. Your lashes look fabulous. I just might have to invest in a tube myself.
I love this mascara!!!! I blogged about it too because I couldn’t believe how fabulous it was. It performed perfectly for just under 3 months and then it decided it didn’t want me to play with it any more. But it’s one I’ll buy again for sure.
