Crikey, birds it’s British invasion!
The British are here, the British are here! One of the highlights of my trip to BlogHer last week was visiting the pseudo salon of British celebrity hairstylist Mark Hill. He is charming and dynamic with a head full of enviable curls! He was so engaging that I had a right good chin wag (chat) with him and forgot to take pictures!
My ex-husband was from England and I am a self proclaimed Anglophile so we had loads to dish about. Mark has won many, many prestigious awards and does lots of red carpet events (including the BAFTA awards), but he remains a down-to-earth bloke and still works in his salon three days a week. He is SO famous in the UK he has even met a certain Prince and Princess *coughWilliamandKatecough.*
The Mark Hill line of Salon Professional products is making their US debut in 6,000 Walgreen’s stores nationwide right now, and…. wait for it….all 17 products are priced under $12!! I bet you’re wondering why such a successful and high-priced celebrity stylist would launch a line in Walgreen’s?
“I’ve spent more than 15 years creating a range of hair care products that are of such high quality that they are used every day in my salon. To bring an effective, yet affordable range to the U.S. is a absolutely a dream come true.” says Mark.
Most of the time with these promotional junkets, you might get about 15 minutes with the stylist and a quick blow out. That’s exactly what I was expecting when I arrived at the suite with freshly washed hair for the first appointment at 7:30 am. What I got instead was an hour of Mark’s undivided attention, a cup of tea, great conversation and the best looking hair I have EVER had! Seriously, I got SO many compliments and those that know me said “your hair looks great!” versus the typical silence. I felt great, I honestly loved my hair and that doesn’t happen often. I am very grateful that Mark spent so much time and effort with me. He is an extremely busy man– he and his team have been to 10 countries in just five weeks! They’ve got to be knackered (tired)! Mark even cut 15 Minute Beauty Fanatic’s hair and a cut in his salon is a cool $1,500 quid!
Mark took one look at my hair and diagnosed me as needing the Love Big Hair!, his voluminizng line–smart man. The bigger the hair the closer to God, I say. He used the Love Big Hair! shampoo and conditioner, along with Big Blow! Thicker Fuller Volume Spray (not available until January) and rolled sections of my hair in heated Rock (as in Rock n’ Roll) Velcro rollers. I am dying to get my hands on these rollers! My fine hair was as big and full as a 3 year-old contestant from Toddlers and Tiaras AND the fullness lasted all day—it was truly amazing or as Mark would say “brill dahling.”
The entire collection includes shampoos, conditioners, hairspray as well as various treatments. I got a peek at the hair tools too; hair dryers, mini-dryers in cute leopard and zebra prints and those the Rock heated Velcro rollers I’m coveting. There is a formula for all hair types and any “issues” you may have:

Mark gifted me with the Love Big Hair shampoo and conditioner and the Colour Blast shampoo for my colored hair. I’ve been using them with much success for the last week. At last BIG TEXAS HAIR!
