This week Makeup Wars is focusing on creating The 5 Minute Face. A lot of women think that putting on their makeup is a time consuming chore, and it can be for more complicated looks, but for a pretty everyday look, it can be surprisingly simple and take as little as 5 minutes. Using a palette or kit makes it even easier. In this post I’m using Too Faced All I Want For Christmas kit ($45) from the Holiday collection to make my 5 minute look easy-peasy.
Create your signature holiday look with this party-ready set designed by celebrity decorator and TV personality Mary McDonald, and encased in a chic metallic gold and aqua cosmetic pouch. Take all your beauty basics and the best of Too Faced wherever the spirit of the season takes you.
“You’ll be ready for your Mistletoe moment with this on-the-go kit that has all your beauty basics.”—Jerrod Blandino, Too Faced Cosmetics co-founder and creative director
An Exclusive Eyeshadow and Blush Compact
This split compact is perfect for travel or to drop into a makeup bag. The blush is a lovely peachy pink with very soft shimmer. The eyeshadows are a matte vanilla cream and a very pretty bronze. On my warm skin it appears as a peachy bronze; on cool skin tones I’m sure it will pull more brown or taupe. This compact is universally flattering and absolutely perfect for quick looks.
Perfect Eyes Eyeliner in black- a girl can’t have too many black eyeliners, am I right?
Lash Injection Mascara – three-dimensional polymers wrap around each lash to create tubes that build, stretch and curl for more volume, length and drama.
Shadow Insurance Eyeshadow Primer – THE best eyeshadow primer on the market and a must-have for every over 40 woman. Prevents against fading, creasing and smudging. The skin-soothing formula evens out skin tone and smoothes fine lines to create a perfect canvas for shadows.
La Créme color Drenched Lip Cream in Exclusive Shade Believe – La Créme lip creams are ultra creamy, richly pigmented and moistuizing. The exclusive shade Believe is a gorgeous rosy coral with a balm-like feel.
Super cute makeup bag
The only things I need to add for a full face are:
Makeup primer–I use Reviva Labs Makeup Primer, it’s reasonable priced and smooths out lines, wrinkles and imperfections beautifully.
Concealer – my go-to is bareMinerals Color Correcting Concealer. It’s rich but lightweight, creamy but gives full coverage. No matter what you’ve got to hide, bareMinerals SPF 20 Correcting Concealer has you covered.
Eyebrow pencil – I’ve been using IT Cosmetics Universal Brow Power. It’s a marker style pencil developed with leading plastic surgeons that contains a blend of brow-conditioning ingredients including saw palmetto, nettle extract, green tea, biotin, lecithin, grape seed, panthenol, and vitamins A, C, E. Your brows really do make a difference and can frame your eyes beautifully so don’t forget this step!
The final look and the breakdown:
Step #1 – Face: prime, foundation, and blush 2 minutes
Step #2 – Eyes: eyebrow pencil, eyeshadow, liner and mascara 2 minutes
Step #3 – Lips: lipstick 1 minute = TOTAL 5 minutes!
Bottom Line: Too Faced All I Want for Christmas is a great set of neutrals perfect for every over 40 woman and for all year ’round!
Let’s see how the rest of our bloggers achieve a 5 minute face!
