This week our makeup warriors are presented with the challenge of creating a full face of makeup for only $30. Drugstore makeup has really evolved in the past few years so that is where I concentrated my shopping efforts. With only $30 to spend, I did have to skip face and eye shadow primer, but that’s really all I had to give up. I purchased most of these products at Walmart; they have the cheapest regular price makeup in town, however when there is a sale, I shop at Rite-Aid, Walgreen’s and Fred Meyer also.
Here’s what I used for my under $30 Face of the Day: Maybelline FIT Me Foundation ($4.44 (on sale, regular price 4.99) – what a surprise! This is a fab foundation, especially for the price! It spreads well, doesn’t sink into lines and has a satin finish. The coverage is sheer; my freckles show through but it still evens out my skin tone. I purchased Shade 120-Classic Ivory which is a little light for me, however it still works.
e.l.f. Concealer ($3) – concealers are one product I don’t like to skimp on because I need it so much! This stick concealer from e.l.f. is okay but I definitely prefer my IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Undereye or tarte Maracuja Creaseless Concealer.
Milani Brow & Eye (on sale $4.97 reg. price $6.97, I had a $2 off coupon) – I purchased this in Natural Taupe/Vanilla. One end is a highlighter I use under the brow bone, the other end I used as an eyebrow pencil. I think the taupe end is too soft and creamy for the brow and the shade was brown not taupe. I’m disappointed in this product, I’ll have to continue to look for a good drugstore brow pencil option. Milani Bella Eyes Gel Powder Eyeshadow ($3.99) – for this everyday look, I chose #22 Bella Gold. These eyeshadows are amazing! They are very pigmented (I didn’t need a primer), smooth and creamy. They perform like much more expensive brands. You HAVE to try these! Available in 20 shades.
Maybelline FIT Me Blush ($4.44) – I chose Medium Coral and really love the shade, it’s perfect for my skin tone. The colors are divided into 3 groups: Fair, Medium and Dark to help you choose the right shade for you. I do think this blush is less pigmented than higher end brands; for me that just means 2-3 swipes with the brush instead of one. I’m glad I discovered this!
CoverGirl LashBlast Clump Crusher Mascara and Perfect PointPlus Eye Pencil ($5.99) – I love Clump Crusher mascara, read my full review here! This special value package came with a black eyeliner–awesome deal!
NYX Butter Gloss ($3 reg. price $5) – I received one of these in an IPSY bag and fell in love with it so I purchased a few more when they were on sale at Ulta for 25% off. Butter Glosses are non-sticky and melt into lips while provided rich color. Apple Strudel is a pale peachy pink that makes a great everyday color.
This was such a fun challenge, my total came to $29.83! One more look:
