Make Up For Ever, always on the cutting edge, is embracing spring’s most hottest trend–soft romantic pastels. Being a neutral lover myself, I tend to prefer softer shades on my eyes and Make Up For Ever has created some soft but colorful shades to play with. Being a child of the 70’s, I do admit to having a bit of a phobia about blue eye shadow but I’ve working through it and can honestly say I now wear some blues. Whew, true confessions!!
Make Up For Ever has added six new shades to their vast enormous collection. The texture of these six additions is fabulous per usual. It makes no difference if the finish is matte, satin or shimmer, all of them are silky soft, highly pigmented and easily blendable. There are a few shades that I like in this selection. I think #101 Lemon Shimmer is gorgeous as a highlight on the brow bone or inner corner of the eye. I can also see this shade on the lid with a bright eyeliner from the Make Up For Ever Aqua Eyes collection maybe in turquoise, green or even purple.
The other shade that had me at “pastel” is #25, Apricot Orange Sheen–it has just that, a nice sheen to it that gives it dimension. Beauties, orange is opposite on the color wheel so if you have blue or green eyes, orange will make them POP! I can see this being used as a blush also because it does have that nice luster to it.
Still not convinced? Here ais a simple 4-step eye technique from MUFE’s Academy Educator, Jen Evans. She shares her pro tips for adding a subtle pop of color to your lids.
Get The Look: Pastel Perfect Shadow
Step 1: Apply a nude eye shadow from the upper lash line to the crease.
Step 2: Using an eye shadow brush like MAKE UP FOR EVER’s #10S, sweep your favorite pastel eye shadow from the inner to outer corner of the eye, extending just above the crease while leaving the outer corner open.
Step 3 (optional): Apply a pop of pastel to the outer corner of the lower lash line for a more colorful, playful pop.
Step 4: Apply two coats of your favorite mascara, such as MAKE UP FOR EVER Smoky Lash.
All shadows retail for $20 and can be purchased at Sephora.com. Will you try the pastel trend?
