Laura Mercier Watercolour Clouds Collection Spring 2015 is soft and muted and to me, reminiscent of wood nymphs and fairies. Laura has based her collection on the expression of moods. The mood for Spring 2015 is quiet and relaxed. These soft subdued shades are designed to bring you calm, serenity and balance.

The collection includes:

Star of the show –Watercolour Mist Eye and Cheek Palette ($58) – contains six matte and sateen eye colours, (a brand new formula) and two cheek colours. The palette is limited edition.

If you are looking for a pop-of-color to brighten things up this spring or summer, walk on by. The Laura Mercier Watercolour Mist Eye and Cheek Palette is meant to be used as a sheer wash of color. The shades are deliberately subtle and low-key.

Remember as a teen when you would get new jeans and try to make them look faded? I do. I would take my brand new Levi 501’s and soak them in boiling water in the bathtub to get them to fade and then wash them over and over in the washing machine. That’s the impression I get when I wear this palette—that gentle, hushed, broken-in look. I especially like Mist, it reminds me of faded jeans and Storm of faded cargo pants. I like this look, but I can why some would want more pigmentation.

I am a little disappointed in the blushes. They lack pigmentation and the colors are not unique. Sunset is a pale pinky peach and Earth is a washed red/brown. They do look nice when worn layered together but I would have preferred a coral and brighter pink.

The packaging on the Watercolour Mist Eye and Cheek Palette is absolutely gorgeous! The sleek gunmetal palette is adorned with water droplets that look real and are in fact, raised. I did my best to get good pictures but it was hard as the reflective silver catches the light differently.

Paint Wash Liquid Lip Colour ($28) –demi-matte liquid colour with a rich and cushiony feel
New and permanent shade: Nude Rose.

These liquid lipsticks are a new addition to the line. They are packaged in a rectangular tube with a gunmetal cap that fits in nicely with the collection. I haven’t tried these yet but I am seriously drooling over Coral Reef and Nude Rose. I did notice though that instead of the typical doe foot applicator, these have a rectangular one.

Bottom Line: the Laura Mercier Watercolour Mist Eye and Cheek Palette is ideal for casual springtime. I like the soft muted shades for that ultra feminine yet laid-back “I’m a cool girl” look. If you are not into washed out colors, walk on by. I suggest going to a counter and swatching the eye shadows before purchasing to make sure you are okay with the faded look.
