Laura Mercier’s new, limited edition 2014 Spring Renaissance Collection has arrived at counters and provides all of the essentials for a flawless, youthful appearance. I’m loving every piece in the collection; the look is soft, natural, polished and totally age appropriate. Laura Mercier really knows how to enhance your natural beauty and is one of the few brands that ALWAYS works for us over 40 gals.
Spring Renaissance brings a new day, a new beginning and a new you. It’s a time to reinvent yourself with shades that shine and shimmer and colours that cast a happy, youthful glow.
The Collection includes:
Enlightenment Eye and Cheek Palette Limited Edition ($55) – Includes four eye shadows in shimmering neutrals and two blushes in pops of colour to create the perfect look for the season.
The packaging is a beautiful and elegant; I’m guessing the fabric is raw silk and the nutmeg color is very classy. It has a metal closure that is magnetic and is the perfect size for carrying in your purse or makeup bag. I can see, however, the fabric getting dirty quickly rolling around in a makeup bag of other cosmetics.
Blushing is a highly pigmented matte bright pink: use a light hand if you are a pale girl like me. Awakening is a peachy pink (more peach than pink) with a pretty sheen–no glitter or shimmer. I applied blushing and lightly applied awakening over the top for a subtle glow. These are highly wearable shades for everyday.
All of the eye shadows have a beautiful pearly sheen that make eyes glow. I love this about Laura Mercier products–they are never over the top and work beautifully for our over 40 eyes and faces. Innocence is a pearly barely- there pink, Pure Glow is described as a beige, but on my warm skin it turns peachy–it will probably remain beige on darker skin. Grace is my favorite of the four shadows; it’s a taupe with distinct mauve undertones–very classy and elegant. It pulls more pale mauve/lavender on my skin. Angelic is a pale yellow beige: this one is slightly powdery and kicks up a bit. None of these shades are terribly unique, but the buttery texture and the lovely sheen make them special. Personally, I’m thrilled to have these lovely pearly eye shadows and fabulous blushes all in one easy compact. The only improvement I would make is the addition of a matte crease shade–perhaps a bronze?
For this look I applied Innocence on the brow bone and the inner corner and Grace on the lid and up into the crease. I used black liquid liner on my top lash line and Laura Mercier Stone Gray eye liner under the lower lashes. bareMinerals Lash Domination mascara finishes the look.
Faux Lash Mascara ($24) – new limited edition shade Sierra Brown
Créme Cheek Color ($24) – A long-lasting, natural cheek colour formulated to provide translucent, buildable coverage for a soft, velvety finish. Repromote permanent shades in Sunrise and Praline
Metallic Créme Eye Shadow ($23) – A lightweight, non-greasy, lush metallic formula that floats across the eye leaving a gorgeous, shimmering sheen. There are two new stunning shades: Golden Mist, a gold beige and Copper Sunrise, a peachy copper. These do have a high shine, but they can easily be sheered out or built up. They bring a lovely radiance to the eyes, especially when sheered out a little.
Rouge Nouveau Weightless Lip Colour ($24) – Laura Mercier Rouge Nouveau Weightless Lip Colour is a 100% wax-free lip colour that delivers pure, long-lasting breathable colour and comforts with lip-nourishing hydration; now available in a unique Pearl finish for shimmering lips. New limited edition shades in Play and Pure.
Lip Pencil ($22) – A perfectly textured lip pencil designed to outline, define and enhance the natural shape of the lip. Repromote and permanent in Chestnut.
Foundation Primer Radiance ($32) – The universal pearl tint creates a soft focus effect to minimize the look of imperfections with a radiant finish; leaves makeup looking fresh & colour-true the entire day. Repromote and permanent.
Créme Smooth Lip Colour ($26) – A luxurious lipstick that gives lips the ultimate in colour, texture, and finish; in one smoothing swipe, the crème formula envelops lips in rich colour with a semi-lustrous finish. Brigitte, a pale peachy pink and Palm Beach, a bright coral, reviewed here. I’m wearing Brigitte in the photo below.
Créme Eye Liner ($22) – An ultra-smooth, water-proof creamy eye liner that applies with the ease and smooth silky finish of a gel and the precision of a liquid liner. New limited edition shade, Graphite.
Angled Eye Liner Brush ($20) – Specifically designed to work with the Crème Eye Liner, this brush uses high quality synthetic fibers in a narrow, exact point with a thin profile that creates the most precise looks
