Dress up your holiday look this season with Laura Mercier’s Petite Baked Eye Colour Trio. Featuring three Baked Eye Colours in a range of shimmering shades, the petite and portable palette is the perfect way to take your look from day to night. For an even wash of color, apply dry, or for more vibrant shimmer, simply dampen brush with water and apply wet. Available in Golden Metallics and Smoky Metallics.
Both of these palettes have a lot of sparkle! Smoky Metallics consists of a cool white silver, a medium gray and a deep charcoal. These are very shimmery colors when applied dry, and I did have a fallout issue especially with the lightest silver shade. I’ve worn this palette wet and dry and actually prefer these shadows applied wet. It lessens fallout and when dampened the shades have a more reflective/metallic sheen that I find more flattering than the sparkle. Tip: Beware when using this palette dry, do NOT use a “windshield wiper” stroke with your brush or you will end up with disco cheeks! Instead, use a flat brush and “pat” on. When using wet, I found a flat synthetic brush works best.
Golden Metallics consists of a golden champagne, a blackened olive and an emerald teal. In a word–spectacular! These shades are rich, vibrant tones that reek of glamour! Again, I used all of these shadows wet and the result was gorgeous! The golden shade on the lid, the emerald in the crease and the olive to line and in the outer corner gave me a sultry but still classy look. For some reason the Golden Metallics trio performed better than the Smoky trio did (not nearly as much fallout)–maybe there is some variance with the baked formula?
Bottom Line: These petite, and I mean petite, (about the half the size of a cell phone) palettes are a very nice bargain for a festive holiday look.
Available in Creme Brulee, Fresh Fig, Warm Roasted Chestnut.
