As I write this, it’s snowing outside adding to already 8 inches of snow that accumulated today. Within the next fews days high temperatures are expected to be in the teens-brrrrr. I need a vacation. From winter. To Hawaii. Unfortunately for me, my wallet doesn’t agree. In fact, right now, my wallet is mocking me. I imagine it to be saying “sure honey, you think you’re going to Hawaii?” “I’m pretty empty sweetie, so if you think you’re gonna pay for a vacation with your good looks, you might make it to Yakima.” Wallets are so annoying and cocky, aren’t they?
Although I may not be jetting off to Hawaii, I can bring the scent and feel of the Islands to me with Lanikai Bath and Body! In the Hawaiian language, Lanikai literally means “royal sea” or “heavenly.” Lanika Bath and Body products are handmade using only the finest natural ingredients from Hawai`i. The Lanikai Bath and Body collection contain pure essential oils, distinctive blends of fragrances, and the finest ingredients nature has to offer. Their products are created in partnership with an expert in both horticulture and natural skin care, who has been formulating body care and spa products for more than 25 years. Lanikai Bath and Body features 18 different scents and close to 100 different products, the line is the most comprehensive body and skin care line in the islands. All of their products are natural, botanically based, cruelty free and safe for the environment.
I’ve been fortunate enough to visit the Hawaii islands three times and the one thing that sticks with me the most (besides the beachs and the snorkling) are the smells. My first visit and my first real flower lei made me fall in love with the smell of Plumeria. I think I spent an entire year using body wash, lotion and plumeria body splash exclusively. It was also the first time I had ever smelled Pikake (Hawaiian Jasmine)—ahhhhh.
I tried the Plumeria Body Butter ($18.50) from Lanikai Bath and Body. It has a light, fluffy whipped texture and plenty of fragrance–enough to make the entire bathroom smell good. It absorbs well but leaves behind enough moisture to make skin feel moisturized but not sticky. This body butter contains shea and cacao butters, both known to be one of the best natural moisturizers.
All of Lanikai lotions, body butters, scrubs, Hawaiian sea salts, lip balms, shampoos and conditioners are handmade in upcountry Kula on the island of Maui. All products are made in small amounts so that they are always fresh and the ingredients, always natural. Paraben Free.
