Lancomehas a fantastic line of foundations and I was a die-hard Teinte Idole user for many years so I was uber excited to try this new foundation that’s really a tinted moisturizer? I have to say I’m kind of on the fence on this one. I know, I rarely seem to have a problem picking a side! It’s oil-free, shine free, has an SPF of 15 and is suppose to provide 18 hours of transfer resistant wear. This is not the case. I put Teinte Idole Fresh Wear ($32) on at 9:00 in the morning, and by 5:00 it had disappeared from my chin. My nose was also a bit shiny which is a real surprise as this is supposed to be designed for oily skin types and I am normal to dry. WTH??
When I applied (with fingers) this foundation, I didn’t think I would like it AT ALL. It went on very dry, didn’t spread well and seemed to accentuate my “marionette lines.” However, after an hour or so, it seemed to “settle” and not look so dry. Coverage is sheer to light which I expected and the shade Buff 5 was a great match for me. Packaging is a small tube, but honestly you need only about a pea size to cover your whole face.
PROS:
- SPF 15, although I would like that to be higher
- after settling, looks like you’re not wearing foundation
- lightweight but provides decent coverage
- 17 shades available
CONS:
- Not long lasting
- Matte finish can look dry & settle into lines
- Not recommended for normal-to dry skin types
- Does not blend well
Overall:Probably best suited for oily skin or a oily T-zone. I do like the very lightweight feel–it doesn’t feel like you have anything on your skin. I did not test this with a primer so that could make blending easier. At the end of the day I asked my daughter how my foundation looked and she said she didn’t realize I was wearing any so I guess that’s good, except that some of it had worn off. See my dilemma? I will try this foundation a few more times but I don’t think it’s going to work for me. KarlaSugar has swatched all the shades and has a great explanation of how the shade system works here.
