Lancome French Ballerine 2014 Makeup Collection: Review, Pics, Swatches

Purchased by me

Lancôme’s Spring 2014 Collection, French Ballerine, is inspired by the ballerina; lace tutus, roses, ballet slippers and classically updated colors. The lovely Lily Collins (daughter of rocker Phil Collins) is the ambassadoress for the collection. I love Lily Collins, to me she is a modern day Audrey Hepburn and the perfect person for this campaign. This collection with it’s soft subtle shades is perfect for the over 40 woman!

General Manager of Lancome International explained why she was the perfect choice; “With her charm, gracefulness, modernity and lively wit, Lily Collins is the perfect embodiment of femininity according to Lancome. We are delighted to begin this collaboration with Lily, who brings a renewed sense of radiance and youthfulness to Lancome”.

The Collection includes:

lancome spring 2014

Lancôme Rouge in Love ($28) – I really like adore the formula for this lipstick. It glides on like a balm but is much longer lasting. The regular shades are rich in color, but for this collection, the look is soft and feminine. I chose Rosy Rouge and am very happy with my choice; it’s a sheer warm medium pink. While I wouldn’t say it’s vibrant, it definitely adds a brightness to the face, so welcome in this dreary winter. Peche Passion is a warm nude peach, Peony Pucker is a cool lively pink and Violet Valentine is a cool violet.

Lancôme Gloss in Love ($27) –  Gloss in Love sports high shine, a smooth texture and long lasting color. The doe foot applicator has a scoop shape to really hug lips and a click to open tube so you never have any mess. Gloss in love quickly became one of my favorite glosses when they debuted last year. Glittermania is one of all-time most beloved shades. Read my review of Glittermania and Blink Pink here.

Lancome Color-Design-Palettes (1)

I purchased the Dancing Rose palette with four eye shadows and one liner shadow. I’ve always loved pink and brown eye shadow together–the look is feminine, polished and refined. The icy pale pink shadow on top is so pale it blends into my skin and disappears but lays down a nice base for the other shadows. On the far left is a medium rose that has a touch of coral to it. It appears shimmery in the pan, but that does not translate to the eyes. The middle shade is a gorgeous brown with subtle burgundy sparkle and the last eye shadow shade is a shimmery beige shade I use to highlight the brow bone and inside corner of the eye. On the bottom is the liner shade, a soft brown/burgundy shade that is perfect for over 40 women: it’s not as harsh as black. I did not get any fallout; the shadows are typical of Lancôme, soft, buttery and easy to blend. This palette is ideal for us over 40 women who want something for everyday wear that is quick and easy. This palette has everything you need for a pretty polished look. There is no glitter or high shimmer and all the shades work beautifully together.

Bottom Line: the Lancôme French Ballerine Collection is a lovely mix of soft spring colors that really lend themselves to over 40 gals. None of the shadows are too shimmery, but enhance your natural beauty. In Love lipsticks and glosses range from bright to nude to soft and the texture and wear time is exceptional. I know I’m going to be reaching for the Dancing Rose palette  a lot this summer and I have Rose Oscar Gloss In Love on order. Get to your local Lancôme counter and give this collection a look-see!
