When Cindy sent me this cleanser to test and review, I was quite happy! This used to be my “go-to” cleanser that I repurchased again and again. I don’t know why I stopped buying it, but I’m happy to be reintroduced to it.
For anybody unfamiliar with Kiehl’s, they are a 160 year-old company that started out as an old-world style apothecary in New York’s East Village. Their products can be found around the world at their stand-alone boutiques and high end department stores. What makes this line unique is their high-quality products housed in no-frills packaging at a very reasonable price point. Their products are no-nonsense and designed to be workhorses in your skincare arsenal.
This is what the Kiehl’s website has to say about this product:
- · Inspired by the ultimate, award-winning moisturizer, Ultra Facial Cream.
- · Mild formula to thoroughly cleanse skin and remove makeup without over-drying or stripping skin of its natural oils.
- · Dissolves excel oil, dirt and debris.
- · PH-balanced to maintain skin’s natural balance.
- · Tested for safety and gentleness.
Key ingredients are as follows:
Apricot Kernel Oil is extracted from apricot kernels and has a very high Vitamin E content (aiding fast absorption) and is a trygliceride composed of 75% oleic acid and 20% linoleic acid, and unsaturated fatty acids esterified with glycerin – similar to avocado oil and sesame oil. Found to be highly compatible with the skin. Apricot Kernel Oil moisturizes and softens skin while helping retain clarity and suppleness.
Avocado Oil, derived from the fruit of a tropical American tree, is a rich, fatty-acid emollient. Avocado Oil is known to be the most moisturizing of any fruit oil. It is also a natural source of Amino Acid proteins, Vitamins A, D, E, and potassium. Helps to restore the natural moisture of the skin.
Squalane is a healing botanical lipid with a high affinity for skin to instantly restore and replenish.
Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cleanser is a creamy, liquid cleanser that lathers nicely, rinses away cleanly and doesn’t leave my skin feeling dry and parched. The liquid is on the thicker side, so only a very small amount – a pea-size is really too much – is needed to cleanse the entire face. I do find that the cleanser is a bit clingy, so the use of a cloth is necessary if I’m washing my face at the sink. If I’m in the shower, my hands and fingers are sufficient. Now that the weather is warmer, I’m also using what is left on my hands to cleanse my chest area after a sweaty workout.
A 2.5 ounce tube retails for $9 while a 5 ounce tube retails for $18. If you’ve never shopped Kiehl’s products before, you’re in for a treat. They are VERY generous with samples and I’ve yet to try something from this line that wasn’t an outstanding product!
If you’re looking for a new facial cleanser or need to replenish your supply, I would strongly suggest you check this one out!
NOTE: 1. Yes, Patty it is my goal in life to keep you happy so that you will continue to write excellent reviews for Prime Beauty AND because I love you. 2. I’m going to purchase this on my next visit to Nordstrom! I adore Kiehl’s!! If you struggle with dark spots from sun damage or acne scars you HAVE to try Kiehl’s Clearly Corrective Dark Spot Remover!
