Josie Maran knows how to take care of her skin; she was one of the very first brands to start using Argan oil in her cosmetics and has been touting its virtues for years. Now Josie is introducing us to the benefits of coconut water with her Coconut Watercolor Cheek Gelees ($22).
“Living on the beach in Oahu, I became a devotée of coconut water—and noticed that drinking lots of it seemed to make my skin and hair glow. I created Coconut Watercolor Cheek Gelée to bring that hydrating color to my face, and yours. Have a sip of coconut water for your face with this blush that’s cool to the touch.” —Josie Maran
This blush really does look like jelly in a jar but the texture is firmer. It is a hybrid cream blush/cheek stain. Infused with 50 percent-pure coconut water and Vitamin E-rich argan oil, it provides a refreshing sip of coconut water for your skin while imparting moisture and long lasting color. Available in six shades, this blush is perfect for summer weather!
- Poppy Paradise -warm toned hot pink
- Coral Oasis – tangerine orange
- Pink Escape – cool toned pink
- Getaway Red – true red
- Berry Bliss – deep wine
- Honeymoon Honey- neutral brown
I admit looking into a pan of Getaway Red had me a bit scared–I don’t do well with brights even though I probably wear more blush than I should. Cool your jets girls, Coconut Watercolor Cheek Gelees are more sheer than they appear. Getaway Red looks like I got a teeny bit too much sun on my cheeks and I love that natural look! With this Cheek Gelee, some mascara and a dab of lipgloss, I’m ready for a casual summer day!
The finish is closer to a stain than a dewy cream blush. It’s not sticky and lasts a good 12-14 hours! Application is as easy as dipping your fingers into the pot and blending. You really can’t mess this up, the effect is SO natural people will think you were born with a natural glow! Like I said, it is sheer so you need to build it up to the coverage you prefer. It’s very hard to overdo it and I love that! Warning: this blush will stain your fingers but it did wear off quickly. The great thing about Coconut Watercolor Cheek Gelee is that it has a cooling effect and though I haven’t tested it in humid weather (I’m lucky we don’t have humidity here), I feel confident this blush will hold up just fine.
Since this blush is a stain, it doesn’t cling to dry skin or accentuate pores making it ideal for us over 40 beauties! I didn’t notice any extra hydration as Josie claims but I sure do love the natural look.
