Japonesque Velvet Touch Blush: Review, Pics, Swatches

Japonesque Blush

Purchased by me

Japonesque, the terrific brand that brought us high-quality brushes at affordable prices has now expanded into makeup with a line exclusively available through ULTA. I purchased Velvet Touch Blush in shade #3 (there are no shade names, just numbers) when Ulta had their 21 days of beauty last month.

Japonesque cosmetics line includes:

  • Velvet Touch Eyeshadow Duo ($24) – 10 shades
  • Eyeshadow Palette ($34) – 3 shades
  • Velvet Touch Blush ($22) – 6 shades
  • Pro Performance Lipstick ($20) – 12 shades
  • Pro Performance Lip Lacquer ($20) – 8 shades
  • Velvet Touch Finishing Powder  ($26)
  • Lash Loading Mascara ($20)
  • Velvet Touch Foundation  ($36) – 8 shades
  • Luminious Foundation ($36) – 10 shades
  • Velvet Touch Concealer ($20) – 5 shades

Quite a wide selection for a new makeup brand! Before I get to the actual review, can we talk about the packaging? Stunning! Each product has an abstract piece of art that looks like lacquer on the top of the compact–even the top of the lipsticks and glosses. It really is beautiful, sturdy and chic. Each compact comes with a full size mirror but no brushes–okay with me, I usually throw them away anyway. The eye shadow products have a blue design. the blush pink and orange and the powder and concealer pink and purple.

Japonesque Pkg #2

Color me impressed! Japonesque Velvet Touch Blush ($22) is exceptionally finely milled giving it a silky texture that seems to melt into the skin. I’m in love with the satin finish; it’s perfect for us over 40 beauties. A matte finish can settle into fine lines, too much shimmer can emphasize pores. This satin finish is juuuuuust right!

Shade #3 is a lovely coral pink with just a sprinkling of gold; a very wearable and versatile shade. This shade instantly brightens the face and adds a lovely radiance. Wonderfully light and sheer but still richly pigmented, the quality of these blushes rivals brands at twice the price.

Bottom Line: Velvet Touch Blush is a fabulous blush with a satin finish ideal for over 40 beauties. This is also a good value considering the quality is on par with much more expensive brands. I’m so impressed with Japonesque Velvet Touch Blush, I can’t wait to try other items from the line.

I really wanted to pick some of these up from the Ulta 21Days sale but couldn’t find many swatches online – wishing I had gotten some now, ugh.
