Ipsy Glam Bag for January!

Jan 2014 Ipsy Bag

Purchased by me

My Ipsy Glam bag for January didn’t quite thrill me as much as the other months but it’s mostly skincare and I get literally TONS of skincare so if are NOT a beauty blogger, I’m sure you will be happier than I with this bag.

January’s theme is 19 reasons 2014 will be amazing and you are supposed to write why 2014 will be your best year ever, then take a picture and share it on facebook.

Each shipment comes an exclusive Ipsy makeup bag–this month it’s a blue bag with silhouettes of bottles and jars. I won’t be using this bag EVER because the chemical smell was so overpowering. I left it in my garage for a week and I can still smell it. It’s a cute bag but it will go into the trash, too bad.

On to the contents:

Malin + Goetz Mojito Lip Balm – FULL SIZE! Value $12 – I’m loving this balm. I will never say no to a mojito–liquid or solid! I like the consistency of this balm, it is not thick and it glides on making lips feel super smooth.

Benefit the POREfessional primer-sample size –  I’ve tried this primer before and it’s just not right for my skin. I prefer something lighter and this is just a small sample so it will be given away.

Jan. 2014 Ipsy Bag

Balanced Guru Balm Me UP Body Balm sample size– this has an unusual smell, it’s tangy with a hint of chocolate. It is organic and I like sugar scrubs, I just wish I had received the Faith Aromatherapy Anti-Aging Sugar Scrub in Tahitian Monoi–I would have much preferred that fragrance. I should be able to get two uses out of this jar.

Absolute Makeup Cleansing Cloths FULL SIZE? – I’m sorry to say these are the worst makeup wipes I have ever used–and I’ve tried a LOT!. They didn’t feel soft, they did NOT remove any of  my eye makeup and they smell unpleasant. My face did not feel clean and it wasn’t-I had to wash it after to get all my makeup off. Do yourself a favor and get Simple Cleansing Facial Wipes instead!

yaby Liquid Foundation sample size? – this oil-free foundation is nice and lightweight but a little too sheer for my liking, but only because of my mature skin. Finding a foundation that really works for me can be challenging. It does feel nice and lightweight on the skin and seems to blend well.

As a bonus for accumulating points, I also received this Beauty Blender sponge and cleanser. I’ve  tried cheaper versions of this sponge, so I’m really excited to try the real thing!

Overall: this is one of the few IPSY Glam bags I’ve been disappointed in. The makeup bag had a VERY strong chemical smell, the Benefit POREfessional primer was a tiny sample and the makeup cleansing cloths are terrible. Although the ybay foundation doesn’t work for me, I’m glad I got to try it. After all, isn’t trying new things what these bags are all about?? I don’t know the total value of this month’s bag–but the lip balm I love was $12 by itself so it was worth the $10.

  1. I totally agree with you, this month was a let down compared to the past year of bags.

  2. Your bag was a gem compared to mine! Great getting the Beauty Blender at least.

  3. Robin Feinberg says:

This was the worst Ipsy bag I’ve gotten. The bag got thrown out. It’s disgusting. I did manage to use the Yaby – over a BB cream b/c it gives a little glow. By itself? No chance. If I was 18, it would be perfect. The scrub’s ok, and the lip balm is very nice. Haven’t used the wipes yet. All in all – FAIL.

    • I had to throw out my makeup bag too even after letting it air out. The lip balm was the best thing in the bag for sure. I’m sure it will be better next month.
