Ipsy is a monthly beauty and makeup subscription box. For only $10 a month you get a great mix of full and sample size beauty products from great brands and a cute makeup bag too! I particularly like the Ipsy Glam Bag because for the most part, they keep your coloring and preferences in mind. If you ever decide to join, please use my link here.
April’s theme is Beauty Rocks! The bag has a cute record player design on it–there may be some of you (little whippersnappers) that have probably never seen a “record player” much less used one. I will refer you to the logo on the Ipsy Bag to see what one actually looks like. I’m pondering how these items fit with a rock music theme, but whatever, I like the products so I don’t really care.
Let’s take a look at what’s in the bag!
Elizabeth Mott Pop! Goes the Shadow in Champagne – Full size Value $12.99
This is a nice eye shadow in a nice shade. I have lots of this color but I still like the soft texture and pretty sheen I get from this shadow and it’s great for brightening if are tired or lacking sleep. I’ve never tried this brand so it was fun to give it a go. I would re-purchase and buy other shades.
Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencil in Black Velvet – Deluxe sample – .03 oz vs .04 oz for the full size version Value $15
Score! Urban Decay 24/7 Eye Pencils haven’t reached cult status for nothin.’ Black Velvet is a deep, inky black and of course we know how long these last without smudging or flaking!
Mary Kay at Play Jelly Lip Gloss in Teddy Bare – Approx. value $10
Teddy Bare is a true nude, it looks like a pale opaque peach swatches, but only shows as a light sheen on my lips; there is virtually no pigmentation. On more pigmented lips, I’m not sure it would look like anything other than a clear gloss. It’s very sticky and is too reminiscent of a teen gloss you would buy at Claire’s for me. I will probably give this to my teenage neighbor.
Dr. Brandt Microdermabrasion Skin Exfoliant -Sample, approx. value $10
I’ve had very good luck with Dr. Brandt products so I was happy to see this in my bag. The microderm beads are very fine which is a good thing; no tearing of delicate skin, and the smell is a pleasant citrusy scent. I will definitely use this. Too bad the full-size price is $78!
Big Sexy Hair Root Pump Plus Humidity Resistant Volumizing Spray Mousse – Sample, approx. value $5?
I have used this product before and although I like it, I do prefer other brands like Rock Your Hair.
Tokyo Milk Dark Lip Elixir #36 Salted Caramel & #42 La Vie En Rose ($7/each): This was the bonus gift this month for referral and review points. I thought I got one Toyko Milk when I redeemed my points, so when two showed up in my bag, I was thrilled! I’m still not sure if it was a mistake or not, but I have seen others receive two also so I think the bonus was actually two–another score! These lip elixirs are like buttah! #36 Salted Caramel smells exactly like it’s name. The scent of #42, Le Vie En Rose is like a fine fragrance. These feel fab on lips and the tins are actually quite large. The tins are adorable and can be reused for any number of things, if you are ever to finish one! Love these and that is saying a lot because I do not like lip pots.
Bottom Line: Another win for Ipsy! I’m totally happy with my bag this month, the value is $67–not bad for $10! If you would like to try Ipsy, do me a favor and use my link here!
