If you’re new to Ipsy, it’s a monthly beauty and makeup subscription. Each month they send you 5 beauty samples based on your profile along with a cute makeup bag! I’ve been very impressed Ipsy over time, for just $10 I’ve received some nice products and it’s a great way to try brands you might not otherwise try.

Ipsy’s September’s theme is Classic Beauty. The bag is quite cute; a blue blue with a faux black lace print. I really like the size of these bags, they are small enough so as to not take up more room in your purse, but they still hold a lot. I will definitely use this one.

Let’s take a look at what’s inside:

NYX Eye Shadow in Morocco ($4.50, full size) – this is a very pretty purple/indigo with some shimmer. The shimmer is slightly duochrome–I think it will make a fantastic crease color. Ipsy discount 30% off

Elizabeth Moss It’s So Big Voluminizing Mascara (sample size, $8) – the wand has a slight hourglass shape. This is by no means a voluminizing mascara–it does provide some length but there is no way I would pay full price of $19.99. This was the only dud in the bag, but then again, I am extremely picky about my mascara. Ipsy discount 50% off

Starlooks Kohl Eye Pencil in Obsidian ($12 full size) – this seems like a nice creamy liner. I do wish this was in a different color, doesn’t everyone have at least a few black eye liners? Ipsy discount 20% off

butter LONDON Nail Lacquer in La Moss (mini size, $7.50) – BL is one of my favorite nail polish brands for their unique shades, cheeky names and quaint packaging. La Moss is a deep, deep wine from last year’s fall collection. I’ll get a lot of use from this vampy shade. Pictured below is two coats. Ipsy discount 30% off

Caitlyn Tinted Lip Balm in Big Apple ($19, full size) – I love Caitlyn eye liners so I was excited to get this in my bag. The packaging is great, there is a brush in the lid making it great for traveling or popping in a makeup bag. Big Apple is a bright cherry red but since it’s a balm, it can be applied sheerly for those of us that are a little shy of reds. Ipsy discount 30% off

Bottom Line: another winner from Ipsy‘s bag! It’s rare that I’ve been disappointed with my Ipsy bags. At $10/mo. it’s not a big investment and I’ve been pleased with the products that have been chosen for me. This months bag has an approx. value of $50. If you are just building your makeup collection, want to try new brands or just like getting surprises in the mail like me, the Ipsy bag is a great choice!

  • Fabulous bag this month! Mine wasn’t quite as amazing. Didn’t get the gorgeous blue shadow or the fabu Butter London polish. Sigh.

Drooling over that shadow. Gotta tell ya…droooooooling.

    • HAha, the eye shadow is quite nice for a drugstore brand–very pigmented!

  • I like the balm shade. Sexy!!!
