Ipsy Bag for July! Review, pics, swatches

July’s Ipsy bag theme is Beach Beauty. I’ve been subscribing since February and I’m pleased with the service. It’s not as stellar as May bag, but it’s a good value and has products I’ll use.

Let’s take a look at Beach Beauty:

Not real thrilled with the pink plastic bag–it is see-thru plastic though so it may come in handy for travel. It might even make a nice place to store makeup brushes.

Big Sexy Hair Weather Proof (sample size) – this is supposed to be a humidity proof hair spray. There is no humidity here at home, but I plan on taking this to BlogHer in Chicago with me and put it to the test.

Coola Face SPF 20 Rose Essence (sample size) – this is pretty cool product! It’s a rose scented illuminator with an SPF of 20 Titanium Dioxide based formula (for those who are Zinc sensitive) made with 98% natural ingredients. Organic Acai Oil – high in Omegas-3/6/9, Vitamins B1/2/3, plus antioxidant Vitamins C and E – delivers a powerful defense against aging. It adds a pretty pale pink glow. I will probably mix it with my foundation rather than use on it’s own. It’s even water-resistant (for 40 minutes).

POP Beauty Pouty Pop Crayon in Coral Crush (full size) – 2013 will be known as the Year of the Makeup Crayon I’m sure of it. Happily, Pop’s lipgloss crayon is quite nice with a creamy smooth feel and a pretty bright coral shade. I haven’t seen these available to purchase separately, but Ulta has a set of 6 for $25.

BH Cosmetics California Collection Eyeshadow (sample sizes) – there are 3 shadows in cute mini cardboard palette. Unfortunately that’s where the thrill ends for me. These mini shadows are very disappointing; there is virtually no pigment with the exception of the gold Malibu shade. To be honest, this is going straight to the giveaway box never to be seen again.

Demeter Roll-on Perfume in Salt Air (sample size?) – Salt Air in a sweet little rollerball. When I read Salt Air on the label I was sure that really meant mall-bathroom-deodorizer, but this smells surprisingly delicious.

Bonus: Because two of you lovelies signed up for Ipsy, I got this bonus Nicole nail polish in Pretty In Plum.

Overall I’ve been very happy with my Ipsy bags. I’m able to try new things and receive several full-size products each month for only $10, plus I love getting these little surprises in the mail, it’s like my birthday every month!

If you’d like to try Ipsy, you can use my referral link here. After you subscribe, if two of your friends sign up you’ll get a freebie in your next bag too!

  1. That looks like fun stuff! I love your bonus polish! Really, the blue shadow didn’t have much pigment to it? That’s crazy. Sounds like a fun deal, I may check it out later.

  2. I was curious to see which products you received in your July ipsy. I just reviewed my ipsy bag. I got the same ones except for the Demeter Salt Air. Instead, I got Nailtini Nail Polish in Mai Tai, a beautiful orange shade, and it was a hit for me. I really wanted to get the Benetint and I was curious about the Salt Air. Overall, I was very satisfied. It was my first ipsy bag!
