Bare Escentuals announced that they are launching bareMinerals READY, a new line of cold-pressed eye shadows in 2.0 duos ($20) and 4.0 quads ($30) next month. Yes, you heard right–Bare Escentuals, the undisputed pioneer of loose eye shadows is delving into the solid eye market and they are worth waiting for!
Created through a unique cold-pressed method, we’ve combined our proprietary SeaNutritive Mineral™ Complex – composed of positively-charged sea minerals extracted from nutrient-rich algae and seaweed – with powerful antioxidants, cold-pressed borage oil, caffeine and cucumber. Our solid concentrate delivers potent anti-aging benefits including de-puffing and antioxidant protection for a softer, smoother, revitalized eye area. It looks like a powder but feels like a cream with a non-drying formula that delivers a beautifully smooth application of vibrant long-wearing color plus incredible skin-renewing benefits.
I adore the bareMinerals line but was never a collector of the loose eye shadows–truth be told, I don’t care for loose eye shadows–too messy for me. It’s a true testament to bareMinerals eyecolors that I made an exception to my rule–with exceptional shades like Celestine, Queen Tiffany and Nude Beach I couldn’t resist. I’m thrilled to report the pressed version is just as outstanding as the loose—the texture is soft, smooth, highly pigmented and easily blendable. And the colors! Oh the colors! Ba. Nah. Nas.
Packaging on both the duos and quads is black rubber compact a la NARS, with a full sized mirror. Mine did not come with applicators but I’m assuming they will be the standard foam-tipped type. The Epiphany duo consists of:
A-HA – a shimmery peachy/bronzy/taupe. Yes all three! If sheered out, it takes on a peachy tone, one more layer and it turns to bronze and pack it on and you get a complicated bronzy/taupe–it’s heaven!!
Foreshadow – a matte nutmeg brown that can be intensified to a medium brown–has a red slight undertone of red.
Swatches on the left are without primer, on right with Urban Decay Primer Potion original. These shadows are so smooth and long lasting, they don’t needa primer unless you have very oily lids or just want to intensify the color. I got 12 hours of wear from this duo with no primer! The Epiphany is a surprisingly versatile duo; worn lightly it makes a lovely summery natural daytime look, add some drama by layering to intesfy the look–add a dark eyeliner and two coats of a volumizing mascara and your talkin’ smoky baby!
Here is my quick and easy daytime look with The Epiphany:
- Brow Bone: bareMinerals Queen Phyllis matte
- Lid: A-HA
- Crease: Foreshadow
I added BECCA cream blush in Byzantine and finished with NYX Mega shine lip gloss in sponge Cake.
bareMinerals READY 2.0 eye shadow duos do not disappoint! While The Epiphany and The Promise appeal to my neutral lovin’ heart, I already have several of the 15 other duos and 4 quads on my wishlist–The Vision is a must have! Karen at MakeupandBeautyBlog has pictures of the four quads (all gorgeous) and more of the duos. Review of The Promise duo coming soon!
