Frugal Friday with Rimmel London!

Give me inexpensive waterproof eyeliner or give me death! Or at least maim me a bit. Okay, so maybe I am slightly over dramatic, but H E double hockey sticks, I want an eyeliner that can last through heat, humidity, sweat, allergies and maybe a dip in the pool. Eureka, I’ve found it–Rimmel ScandalEyes Waterproof Kohl Eyeliner (5)!  The liners launched earlier this spring with a limited number of shades but now they are a permanent part of the line with a full 10 shades including a nude for brightening.

  • Black
  • Sparkling Black
  • Brown
  • Taupe
  • Nude
  • Deep Blue
  • Turquoise
  • Light Blue
  • Silver
  • Purple

For a mere $5, these liners pack a great punch of pigment. They are very creamy and don’t skip or tug on delicate over 40 eyes! The texture is nice for smudging–I like to smudge on my upper lash line so the line doesn’t look so harsh on these older eyes. I got 8 hours of wear on my upper and lower lash line and about 5 on the waterline.

Colors range from your basic black and brown to more vibrant shades. I tried the Deep Blue and the Purple and I really do like both shades. The deep blue is a touch lighter than navy and very flattering on the eyes–it makes the whites appear brighter. The purple is nice too– not too bright but not brown based either like so many are. I also tried the Nude shade which is pretty much an exact duplicate for the more expensive Tarte empahasEYES Inner Rim Brightener that retails for $19! This is my little secret for bright, wide-awake eyes. It seriously makes you look like you got a good 8 hours of sleep even you didn’t. For only $5 you need this in your makeup bag beauties!

Bottom Line: great shades, color rich, good performance. A fabulous budget eyeliner!

Even for  a mascara enthusiast like me, I was expecting much from Rimmel ScandalEyes Flex. There must be 789,436 mascaras on the market so what’s one more? My problem, you see, is that I want a high-end performance mascara for a low budget price. Sounds impossible right?

The big, black tube looks powerful and impressive but does it perform? The answer is yes and no. It depends on what you want out of a mascara. I want it all and sadly ScandalEyes Flex doesn’t deliver it ALL, but it does deliver long, fluffy, defined lashes that feel soft. I usually prefer big, bold 60’s Twiggy lashes but after using Flex for a week or so, I’m kinda digging it. My lashes are defined, separated and natural looking. My biggest gripe with drugstore mascaras is that they dry out my lashes and make them feel “crunchy.”  I’m happy to say that is not the case with ScandalEyes Flex–my lashes feel very soft and conditioned. Score!

The brush isn’t my favorite either. I don’t like HUGE barrel brushes–they are too difficult to maneuver into the corner and grab those tiny lashes. However, this one doesn’t bother me as much as others.  I do, however, love that I get no clumps!

Bottom Line: if you like long, well defined, fluffy natural looking lashes this is a good choice. Rimmel London has some great budget products for eyes!

  1. I like your lashes looking like this. They look a little softer.

Your lashes look great, Cindy! I love the definition and length. (Believe me, you haven’t entered drag queen territory…YET! I have several friends that perform with a group in MN…Now THEY are drag queens!!)
