My friend Marcia from Beauty Info Zone, introduces us to Revlon’s Just Bitten Balm Stain.
I always say that I don’t buy drugstore makeup but that’s really not true – liar, liar, pants on fire. I guess you could say that I’m just picky when it comes to drugstore makeup and don’t buy as much as I do at stores like Nordstrom and Sephora. But when I read raves about something my interest becomes piqued and I want to play Follow the Leader.
There were two leaders that led me to Revlon recently. The first was on a beauty board where a beautiful young woman was raving about the new ColorStay Whipped Crème Makeup (foundation). The second is my blogger friend Lola of Lolas Secret Beauty Blog who tempts me with every single post; she got me to buy a Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain. I never thought I’d buy a Revlon lip product because of fragrance but whatever Lola says….
Today I’ll introduce you to my experience with the Just Bitten Kissable™ Balm Stain. This comes in 12 “kissable” shades although I didn’t see that many in the display. I prefer light colors on my lips and the lightest that was available the day I shopped at CVS was Honey. The packaging color looked like a light mauve brown which I love and which would have gone great with my Too Faced Cocoa Rose blush. On my lips though it turned much more red than it swatched. At first I found it very drying so the ‘balm’ part of the name surprised me. As I wore it though I noticed it felt more moisturizing which was a nice surprise but it still wasn’t what I’d consider moisturizing. As long as I didn’t eat anything the staying power was very good but it doesn’t make it through a meal on me. The Just Bitten Kissable™ Balm Stain have a peppermint flavor and scent that isn’t very long lasting at all. They are constantly compared to Clinique Chubby Sticks which I don’t have; my comparison is to tarte LipSurgence lip crayons which have a similar peppermintness to them. M favorite purse companions are my tarte LipSurgences. I’m planning to try out Cherish in the Revlon formula since that seems more my color but I’ll wait for a special from CVS to do so. The retail price of these is $8.99 but with specials at the drugstores I’m sure you can end up spending less than that. If you can find a good color these are a nice alternative but I seriously doubt they’ll replace my love for tarte.
