One of the best drugstore brands around, Milani, has hit it out of the park again with the Coming Up Roses Blush Collection ($7.99). The Milani Coming Up Roses Blush collection is available in four limited edition shades and each is embellished with a beautiful raised rose design. I was so impressed with the Illuminating Face Powders (reviewed here), I had to have one (or more) of these rosy blushes–that and the fact that I love pretty embossed makeup designs!
The shades are:
- Romantic rose – pinky/mauve matte
- Flora Passion – pinky/coral matte
- Warm Petals – bronze/brown with gold shimmer
- Bella Rosa – pale pink matte
Unfortunately there are only two stores that carry Milani in my town and the selection is minimal. I was lucky enough to find a small display of these blushes at Fred Meyer but the only shade left was Flora Passion, that’s fine by me, warm rosy/coral shades are my very favorite blush shades in the whole wide world! To my surprise, Flora Passion leans more rose on me than coral which is unusual on my warm skin tone. The finish is matte but definitely not flat, it has a nice satin-like finish without ANY shimmer or sheen and is very flattering, especially to over 40 women! I used my IT Cosmetics Blush Brush to pick up just the right amount of product for my fair skin. Flora Passion can be applied sheerly for a more natural look or built up for more intensity. It lasted a good 10 hours for me without fading–that’s amazing!
Milani blushes are very high quality for drugstore blushes; they are silky, blend brilliantly and have great pigment. The texture of Flora Passion is harder and drier than higher end blushes. Thankfully it doesn’t translate as dry or powdery on the skin Packaging is unimpressive; a plastic compact with a clear lid but for the price I could care less about the actual packaging.
Milani Coming Up Roses Blush is limited edition and can be found at CVS, Meijer, Walgreen’s and Fred Meyer stores.
Bottom Line: Coming Up Roses blushes are high quality, pretty colors for a budget friendly price! The matte/satin makes them perfect for over 40 skin, but hurry and search these out fast, they are already sold out on the MilaniCosmetics website! I’m going to be on the hunt for more shades!
