Frugal Friday Guest Post – Nubar Nail Polish

Guest poster Marica from Beauty Info Zone used to be boring until she found Nubar Nail Polish, now watch out! A big THANK YOU to Marcia for helping me out the last few days by guest posting for me. You must check out her blog Beauty Info Zone for great reviews and tips!

I used to be this boring nail person. I am lucky and (knock on wood) have great nails in spite of the fact that I bit them to the quick until I was about 35 years old. In the past I always picked the same nail polishes over and over. Red for winter, pink or white for summer. I once went an entire year wearing the same shade of polish. Then suddenly this past winter all the posts and blogs about gorgeous nail polish got to me and I bloomed. I became a nail polish aficionado. I went from a collection of a few dozen red and pink nail polishes to over 150 in every shade imaginable. Of all the polish brands I’ve tried my favorite is Nubar. These polishes are such high quality. As I’m typing this article I’ve had on Nubar Purple Beach for 8 days and it looks brand new. Not only that but I have gotten more compliments on this polish than any other I’ve ever worn.

Purple Beach is the best DuoChrome I’ve got in my collection. It changes in every light. It’s like owning 3 nail polishes in one. As you can see by the picture from bynubar.com it looks greenish and sort of unusual. But it’s not just green – it’s purple, it’s taupe, it’s plum, it’s olive. It’s amazing is what it is. It’s Formaldehyde free, Toluene Free,  and Phthalate (DBP) free so it’s one of the nail polish brands you want on your nails.

I love Nubar’s Diamont top coat too. Every time I bring a Nubar polish to my nail tech I bring along Diamont. I think that’s one of the keys in making this such a long lasting polish. I don’t have the base coat but I will purchase that when I’m in need of the top coat again. “Diamont Seal & Shine Quick Dry Top Coat completely seals nubar Nail Lacquers and nail art, throroughly dries all layers of polish quickly, and protects your manicure for maximum wear.”

I’ve placed several Nubar orders since I first discovered the brand. Here’s some descriptions of my polishes

Peacock Feathers – another DuoChrome. This one looks purple in the bottle but in actuality looks like a blue green peacock feather (duh) on my nails. Light affects the look of the color, it can look blue, purple or blue green depending on the light and tilt of your hands.

Amethyst – a beautiful true jeweled purple

Marble Tower – I got onto a grey kick and purchased three of the greys from the Fortress collection. Marble Tower is the lightest and is a dove grey. It looks classic on its own and makes a great base when I want a flakey polish on top.

Palisade – this is a true charcoal grey with a slight blue undertone

Stronghold – a dark grey crème that’s not quite black

Unfaithful Red – this polish looks totally different in the bottle than on my nails. In the bottle This is described as “A lustrous red metal alloy infused with sparkling flecks of Chromium metal color.” On my nails it’s like wearing a Christmas ornament – shiny, metallic, rich red.

Ruby -  a lighter shimmery red with red glitter

I also own some that are sheer and I like these as top coats since I don’t do well in sheers:

Tropical Treat – a sheer DuoChrome that looks like a pinky mauve in the bottle

Innocent Whispers – this is the cousin to Tropical Treat but in a lavender base

Summer Rose – a sheer pink with golden shimmer and frost

As you can tell I’ve really gotten into Nubar’s polishes. At $7.49 each they are an inexpensive treat. I’ve purchased all of mine from Nubar’s website.

The polishes apply beautifully, the brushes are excellent making the polishes a breeze to apply. The darker colors like Stronghold can almost be used with just one coat but I always use two coats of color.

If you want to be complimented every time you step out of the house, be boring no more and check out this fabulous range of nail polish colors. — Marcia
