It might be hard to believe, but this lipstick junkie has never tried Buxom. Yes, it’s true. Even though I’ve heard rave reviews, I never got around to testing them out till now. Today I’ll be sharing my thoughts on the Buxom Lippie Collection, featuring Full-on Lip Polish, Lipstick, & Lip Cream, $20 each, Big & Sexy Bold Gel Lipstick, $22, Wildly Wiped Lightweight Lipstick, $21, and Plumpline Lip Liner, $17.

Buxom Lippie Collection – Full-On Lip Polish & Lip Cream

Buxom Lippie Collection Full On Lip Polish and Lip Cream

If you’re a fan of Buxom, you’ve probably extremely familiar with their full-on Lip Polishes and Creams. These best-selling glosses are all about the plump and shine. Both products feature a formulation infused with Vitamins A and E to help moisturize and nourish lips. They also deliver a slight tingle to your lips thanks to a mix of peptides and hyaluronic acid, which also boosts collagen and lip volume.

The only difference between the two is the polish is more sheer, while the cream is more of a traditional lip gloss. As a lip gloss fan, I adore the creaminess, shine, and color of both Isabella and Berry Blast. I am a bit on the fence about the tingle. It does take some getting used to at first. I don’t mind it, but I could also do without it.

Full-On Lipstick & Plumpline Lipliner

Buxom Lippie Collection Plumpline Lip Liner and Full On Lipstick

Next up on the Buxom Lippie Collection tour is the full-on Lipstick in Marrakech and the Plumpline Lipliner in Code Red. Unfortunately, both of these lippies were a miss for me.

I’m not sure if it is the formula or just the color but I found Marrakech to be drying and patchy. It is supposed to provide hydration and plumping, while also delivering rich, creamy color. It did none of those on my lips. I tried several times to get it to apply smoothly, but I had no luck. It clings to any lines or dry patches on my lips. It also has zero staying power and after a few hours of wear, the color begins to rub off in the center of my lips. The only thing I like about it is that I can use it as a liner and lipstick in one.

I also had high hopes for the Plumpline Liner in Code Red. I love a bright, sexy red lip, especially in fall and winter. Unfortunately, I find Code Red a bit of a challenge to work with because of the size of the pencil. The brush at the end does help with filling in the lips. I also have an issue with the formulation because it doesn’t stay in place. Instead, it bleeds and leaves stains below and above my lips.

Big & Sexy Bold Gel Lipstick & Wildly Whipped Liquid Lipstick

Buxom Lippie Collection in Wildly Whipped Liquid Lipstick and Bold Gel Lipstick

The last stop on my Buxom Lippie Collection tour includes two different lipsticks. First up, is the Big & Sexy Bold Gel Lipstick in Forbidden Berry. Next, we have the Wildly Whipped Lightweight Liquid Lipstick in Moonlighter. Hello, my bright, bold, beauties.

While both colors are beautiful, we have a winner and a didn’t work for me. First of all, the packaging on both lippies is incredible. I adore how the two tone of the liquid lipstick tube allows me to see the color of the lipstick.  In this case, the color is a beautiful pinky, highly pigmented red.

However, the formulation is very drying and uncomfortable to wear. It also never really dries down so the color doesn’t stay put like most liquid lipsticks. The good news is that when it does wear off it leaves a nice berry, red stain.

Finally, we have my absolute favorite from the Buxom Lippie Collection, the Bold Gel Lipstick in Forbidden Berry. Not only did I fall in love with the sleek black packaging, with magnetic closure, but I adore the berry color. I can absolutely see why Buxom calls this line Big & Sexy.

The formulation of Forbidden Berry is so creamy. It’s ultra-light, has a beautiful satin finish, applies in one swipe, and has amazing staying power. (You can also find some colors in a matte finish.) When the gel formula does wear off, I have a nice berry stain on my lips. Plus, it smells like a vanilla cupcake. Something I notice with most, if not all, of the Buxom lippies I tried.

Overall: I’m so glad I finally got to give the Buxom Lippie Collection a try, even if I had some hits and misses. If you’re looking to add some new glosses and lipsticks to your collection, I highly recommend the Big & Sexy Bold Gel Lipstick and the Full-on Lip Polish and Lip Creams.
