Fashion Friday – Brighten Up for Spring!

One of the Spring’s biggest trends is bright color. On the runway brights were represented in classic pieces to neon shoes and accessories. Don’t fret, we’re not talking head to toe, but carefully selected pieces to add a fun pop of color.

The best and easiest way for women over 40 to wear this trend is to start with a basic piece such as a blazer, trench coat or cardigan in a bright color. Kelly green, geranimum pink, cobalt blue, sunflower yellow are all good choices.

Calvin Klein Trench Coat

Calvin Klein trench coat  in cherry  from Nordstrom  $138

Ann Taylor Loft (one of my fav stores) has a great selection of three-quarter length cardigans in fab colors ($44.50). The 3/4 length sleeve also makes a great transition piece from winter to spring! Also check out Nordstrom’s Halogen 3/4 length sleeve crewneck cardigan ($46).

J. Crew Schoolboy Blazer

This cutie is the Schoolboy Blazer in herringbone from J. Crew, $178 and comes in 4 brights + 1 neutral.

If you don’t want to invest in a piece of clothing, you can still have fun by adding a bright shoe or accessory. The more classic the style, the more fun it is in a bright color.

Cole Haan triangle leather tote $328 in Greenhouse, also available in Spicy Orange, Sandalwood and Black

Marc Jacobs Classic Q-Hillier Hobo $428.

Whether you like neon shades or primary colors, you’re in luck this Spring and don’t think you need to break the bank to get on board with the bright trend. TJMaxx, Target, H & M. Forever 21 and Payless Shoes are all good budget choices.
