I swear if I looked like Hillary Rhoda and had her body I’d run around naked flashing my piercing blue eyes all the live long day. *Heavy sigh.* Well, hopefully Estee Lauder’s Bronze Goddess Collection will help me at least accomplish Hillary’s Bronzed Goddess makeup look–maybe.
Every summer, Estee Lauder launches a new Bronze Goddess collection with the star attraction usually being a big, beautiful bronzer. This year is no exception with the Sea Star Bronzing Blush. I caved for this pretty peachy blusher/bronzer duo and I’m so glad I did.
The Sea Star Bronzing Blush ($34)is perfect for us pale skinned girls. The duo consists of two parts; the golden shimmery bronzer and the sea star which is a peachy pink blush. Take note that the fuchsia on the star is just an overspray and will only last for one application. Used separately, the bronzer appears as a medium tanned peach with subtle gold shimmer, while the blush is a peachy coral with soft gold sparkle. You can swirl them together which is how most two toned bronzers are meant to be applied, but since the sea star is off center to the compact, it makes it easier to use them separately if you so desire. Together, they swirl to create a lovely peachy bronze with subtle shimmer. I wage battle with myself every summer where shimmer v.s. matte bronzers are concerned. I usually don’t like shimmery bronzers, especially in the daylight, but matte bronzers can sometimes read flat and look muddy. This shimmer in Sea Star is very fine and restrained so I don’t mind it and I actually think it will be beautiful on the shoulders and decollete on a warm summer night. The sea star blush is very pigmented so fair beauties may want to use a fan or stippling brush to avoid overload.
The compact itself is a disappointment even with it’s large size. The plastic feels more drugstore than department store–I would have liked to see something like a holograph–more along the lines of the Dior quint packaging, but oh well. Estee Lauder Sea Star Bronzing Blush won’t be the only bronzer I use this summer, but will definitely be in constant rotation. Here it is in action:
By the way, the lipstick is Chanel Rouge Coco Shine in Liberte.
The rest of the collection:
Island Oasis Eye Shadow Palette ($42) -6 eye shadows that are sure to make turn you into a Bronze Goddess. The gold and copper shades are reminiscent of warm sand and the turquoise, the sparkling sea.
Another thing that impressed me were the Limited Edition ShadowStick duos–uber creamy with a bit of sparkle, long lasting and such pretty colors! I immediately went for the bronze (no surprise there) but the pink/teal ended up capturing my heart–the pink a pretty neutral, the teal the perfect splash of color for summer. The glosses are glittery yummy goodness for the lips and the nail polish is an unexpected summer shade.
